By 2006, Hansen had made them equal.

The mutilation is not just confined to the US. This particular “temperature-cide” is global in nature, and the perpetrators are legion in number, chasing a “Holy (tax) Grail” that they expect to find in the Styxian revenue stream.
I am confident that Hansen can take areas where data is sparce, like the oceans and high latitudes and “adjust” the temperatures upward accordingly. Even where data is dense, he can cherry pick stations that are most subjected to urban heat islands or are otherwise warm biased.
Reagan National near DC is such a station, surrounded by concrete, no vegetation. It consistently reads 2-5 degrees warmer that what my car thermometer tells me. It didn’t used to be that way. Big money plus an agenda normally equals huge corruption.
In George Washington’s day it certainly wasn’t that way. Crystal City was a swamp.
