Global Warming Causes Cannibalism

Two fishermen lost in Siberia are suspected of killing and eating their friend in order to survive, it was claimed last night.

A fourth man is also missing, leading to fears that he, too, was murdered and cannibalised.

Alexander Abdullaev, 37, and Alexei Gradulenko, 35, were plucked to safety by a rescue helicopter having survived temperatures lower than minus 30C three months after embarking on their fishing trip.

Wouldn’t be the first time in the Arctic. The Coppermine Expedition of 1819–1822 had as its goal the exploration of the northern coast of Canada was led by Lieutenant John Franklin Royal Navy. The expedition was plagued by poor planning, bad luck and unreliable allies. Eleven of the twenty strong party died amid accusations of murder and cannibalism before the survivors were rescued by native people of the Yellowknife tribe, who had previously given them up for dead.

Cannibalism in the Arctic seemed to dog Franklin as members of his expedition of 1845-48 to find the North-West Passage reputedly also resorted to cannibalism after they had abandoned their ships.

    • Bill Pounder says:

“.. a considerable change of climate, inexplicable at present to us, must have taken place in the Circumpolar Regions, by which the severity of the cold that has for centuries past enclosed the seas in the high northern latitudes in an impenetrable barrier of ice has been during the last two years, greatly abated….
….. this affords ample proof that new sources of warmth have been opened and give us leave to hope that the Arctic Seas may at this time be more accessible than they have been for centuries past, and that discoveries may now be made in them not only interesting to the advancement of science but also to the future intercourse of mankind and the commerce of distant nations.” A request was made for the Royal Society to assemble an expedition to go and investigate.”

  2. That would make a good Hollywood movie, especially if it stared Leonardo DiCaprio and towards the end he got to be eaten.

It would be a fitting tribute to honor his environmental concerns and an example to all enviro-wackos everywhere. :)
