The “consensus” says Sandy had nothing to do with global warming, but McKibben has never been interested in science anyway.

Heheh…Let’s check those numbers again after winter’s over, Bill. Actually, let’s check those numbers around most of the rest of the world right now…
“On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but — which means that we must include all the doubts, the caveats, the ifs, ands, and buts. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people we’d like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change.
To do that we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. This “double ethical bind” we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. I hope that means being both” –
Dr. Stephen Schneider
Warmists are commanded by their doctrine to push the agenda forward by any means necessary.
Which makes them something other than scientists. Propagandists.
“I hope that means being both”
His previous statements show that he hopes no such thing.
“On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but…”
Schneider fell too much in love with his fairy stories.
Bill has decided to ignore the communication experts on his side of the argument that have already determined that hyping hurricanes is a losing proposition. Professor Muller, the recently converted skeptic wink wink, is quoted at a Huffington Post interview saying, “Hurricane Sandy cannot be attributed to climate change” so Bill continues to demonstrate to rational people that he is not among them and that he will continue to ignore the science because science only gets in the way of faith based activism.
It seems like KcKibben is following the Chris Mooney philosophy, which is basically to exploit every opportunity that the weather provides. “Severe weather can change minds.” – C. Mooney
The correllary in politics was summed thusly.
“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. “– Rahm Emanuel
The experts state that this is not the way to convert skeptics to believers though. As only short term memory is involved, as soon as the next conflicting short term memory influence occurs, like heavy snow and very cold weather, the short term belief shifts back to doubt. Mckibben is shouting fire in a crowded theater and getting lots of attention now but in the long term he loses credibility.
The only way bill can keep his book sales up is to keep his followers on edge with his continuous shouts of fire. His website says nothing about donations of book sales to charity or even in support of his ‘save the eaarth’ efforts. Greed is good isn’t it bill?
The key is to go literally bonkers when there’s any “extreme” weather. Ignore normal weather, and then down play any severely cold/snowy weather. The squeaky wheel is going to get the grease within the perception of the public.
These guys have the field all to themselves when it comes to media coverage.
Good God what a moron! Here is the actual data to which this idiot referred…
-In the wake of the hurricane 52% of New Jersey voters say they’re ‘very concerned’ about global warming, 28% say they’re ‘somewhat concerned,’ and 20% say they’re ‘not concerned.’
Only McMoron could get 80 from 52. What does the state say 2+2 is today Billy Boy?
Only really hardcore, severe and desperate Warmongers like Billy boy are going to give a rat’s ass about the whole eco greenie hysteria when America is bankrupt and Greece on the Potomac sucks up all the cheap and easy media coverage.
Fiscal cliff + staggering over spending + wannbe marxist POTUS = CATASTROPHE.
+ Fracking + Invention = New American Century
Rogue nations firing off missles. Lunatics building nukes. The Middle East in turmoil. World on brink of financial collapse and we got idiots like this telling people we should worry about a possible increase in temperature in a few decades or the weather may get bad. It’s complete insanity and in a sane world people like McKib would be laughed into exile.
He’s operating in a college world trying to make trust-fund babies feel guilty about themselves and it’s working. Someone at Harvard has come out with a “Handprint” app that helps people feel better about themselves and their carbon footprint, since some of them feel “the world would be better off if they weren’t born.” These are the future leaders and they don’t have the sense that God gave a goose.
The only people who are concerned about their carbon footprint are the ones with enough money to buy the latest whatever and they feel guilty about it and so they need somebody to tell them it’s ok. Real people with real problems and real lives don’t have time for such foolishness.
80% of people in Salem in 1697 were “very concerned” about witches. Did that mean there were real witches?
Only 80 % ?
I am pretty sure they need to adjust that to 97% so as to maintain the illusion of consensus.
