It is individual Muslims, Greeks, Persians, Indians, Chinese, Europeans, etc., etc., ad infinitum, who should get credit for their achievements.
Nations and cultures hijack them and try to take credit they don’t deserve!
And each of the great empire faded, leaving the next to pick-up the task of progressing real fact-based advances in science, math, and engineering, thus creating a better and healthier life for its own.
Funny that so often each great civilization’s zenith was just before it’s fall, and so often the fall came as the global climate changed.
