In 1969 Timothy Leary was running for Governor of California against Ronald Reagan and the Beatles wrote him a campaign song called “Come Together.” His campaign was based upon teaching people to think for themselves. His first arrest in 1968 was declared unconstitutional. Then he was sentenced to 10 years in jail on a pot charge. After that, no more Richard Feynman quality scientists dared speak out again ever again about independent thinking!
