This is pretty funny … speaking as someone who was about 2 km down (just checked and it was 1.77 kilometres) in the earth. Warm yes but extremely hot, not so much.
I’ll never forget what the working face was like with several big drills pounding away and water and dust everywhere & banks of flood lights giving everything a surreal appearance. Made me think that I was seeing something close to hell on earth.
For what it is worth it was 85 F / 29C at that level in the Canadian Shield, Sudbury Ontario but that was 1978 and so I’m sure it is warmer now with all the CO2 running about out of control 😉

    • Gail Combs says:

Thanks for the first hand report. I knew it got hotter the further down you go but I wasn’t sure of the exact numbers.

As a caver I am more used to freezing my feet off in cold cave water.

He also said his favorite measurement is the British Thermal Unit and that he has a 9 BTU pecker.

Al Gore is scientifically ignorant and mathematically innumerate as evidenced by his writings and speaking. He should do some elementary research before he opens his mouth. Here is a starting place for melting points of materials:

If you visit this site and leave your mouse still for a bit, a series of interesting factoids drift by (There are more chickens on the earth than humans.). It can be sort of entrancing!

Hey, Al was just confusing the earth with the sun… an easy mistake. Kinda like the way he confuses CO2 with the sun in terms of what drives temperatures on earth.

    Tony,
Did you see the Delingpole story?

Took long enough… and they’re just scratching the surface

Al is leading folks like this guy. (Garcia)..

What a silly comment. do you know anything about climate change? Have you read any science on it? Do you know anything about the Sun’s effect on our climate?

Daniel Garcia · Top Commenter · St. Joseph’s College
John D. Severns, obviously you know nothing about the subject. Your remarks are questions, not answers. Carbon emissions damage the Ozone layer that protects us. If you cant wrap your head around that simple fact, then stop insulting everyone’s intelligence with these snide remarks.

Daniel Garcia It is far better to remain silent about that which you do not understand, than to speak, and look the fool. CO2 has nothing to do with ozone. That’s a completely different scam about CFC’s, not CO2. The CO2 scam isn’t about “damaging” any protective layers of the atmosphere. It’s a delusional fantasy about how 0.0004 of a natural beneficial gas will capture and retain the miniscule amount of radiation in its spectra, and somehow, beyond all reason, cause water vapor to heat up uncontrollably, causing a tropical environment that strangely will never rain, but will boil everyone with a fraction of a degree increase in temperature. In the fantasy of global warming, every place is in drought, unless it isn’t. It is boiling hot, except when it isn’t. It is freezing cold, except…when it isn’t, and raging storms will kill everyone…except when they won’t because they’ve declined in severity and frequency… oh, and everyone will go bald and blind, and your private parts will fall off. That concludes today’s lesson.

    • NomoreGore says:

Its on Puffho. The libstains are in a tizzy because Paul Ryan doesn’t buy the scam.

I’m sitting in the parking lot outside of my office laughing hysterically! Thank you so much for that!

My Friend, I’ve been telling everyone I know that the global warming claim was crap for over 30 years. I’m medically retired from the US Army & still work full time for Alpha Media in Portland OR. They own 6 radio stations here. I want to apologize for you being dragged into an argument I was having with a climate change drone! I wasn’t the one who drug you into the battle. I am a meteorologist, but don’t have the brilliance you have in mathematics! I am equally as sarcastic, but became a strong christian in 2001 & since have toned it down a bit. Anyway. I love you, admire your intelligence, & very much appreciate your commentary. Please keep up the great work you do. I’m no where near a wealthy man, but would like to help you anyway I can. I’m a great forecaster, & I can sell ice to an Eskimo. I feel I could help with donations to keep you going. Please let me know if you would like my help. I worked for WLUC in MQT for 16 years. My best friend Karroll (Karl) Bohnak is the chief meteorologist there & can validate my credentials.

I hope to hear from you. May God bless you & your work!

If Al The Goracle thinks the Earth’s crust is Millions of degrees then the contribution of earth’s Geothermal heat is significant and there goes the argument that “Greenhouse gases” are the reason Earth is hotter than the theoretical number the Climastrologists derive. OPPS there goes another false theory. Killed by good ‘ole Al babe himself.

    • cdquarles says:

Let us also never forget that his father was a segregationist D and the Al could not make the grade at Vanderbilt U’s divinity school. Looks like the only thing he learned there was how to be a preachy political scam artist. 🙂 and /sarc, maybe 😛

Aren’t we lucky he did not end up being a president? What a horror! Oh wait, we have his alter ego the now…

Nah. Algore was thinking about his income, his flying miles, and the power bills for his mansions. Millions.

The Nobel Peace Prize has nothing to do with science; it is a lefty political award. It is awarded by a completely different body than the Science awards.
