    I think you put your finger on the problem.
    Satire/humor/sarcasm depends on comeuppance/self infliction.

    When “the boss”, “teacher”, dictator, evangelist, bully, etc. eliminates the helpless/dependent/subordinate, it is an abuse of power: frightening, not humorous.
    (as I recall, certain peoples objected to this sort of thing: Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, WW II, etc.).
    Judge/jury/executioner in one person? Bad idea.

    Now if Franny or Al Gore had been the “explosion” due to their hypocrisy in consuming resources and flying all over the world, beach front homes, etc, rather than Gillian, that could be funny.
    But helpless kids, employees, athletic team members?
    Do on to others as you would have them do unto you (and your spouse, parents, family, relatives, compatriots, villages, county,….)

    In my sport we’re thought not to kick someone when they’re down. Besides that, why bother when they are doing it so well themselves?
