What a surprise!
The insurance industry were given a blank cheque when scientists and governments said the models were correct and the “science was settled”.
This allowed the industry to utilise models to set premiums. Typical example – model predicted 11 landfall hurricanes to hit Florida before the end of 2010. Premiums rose to cover for 11 big ones. How many actually hit ZERO, big fat nil.
Will the industry reimburse the premiums, reduce future premiums? The hell they will. The models predict so you must pay.
The cost of (profit) insurance will continue to rise, not because of actual incidents but because the models say so. The industry has its own models, based on those developed by climate science, so we have a model developed by people with a vested interest who got a model developed by people who had a vested interest.
As usual it will be the poorest that suffer the most, the ones that can no longer afford insurance.
The responsibility for this state of affairs lies firmly with those that cried “the science is settled” all of them, including the few that visit here.
