Finally, big oil comes out of the closet! Maybe now we can quit hearing that tiresome meme about big oil funding skeptics……………..no probably won’t happen.

I saw on telly that Big Ears was going to sell his mansions and limousines and stop jetting off round the world. He was also going to tell Air Miles Andy he would not be able to have his own personal helicopter anymore.

    Then I woke up.

all they have left is witchcraft and voodoo…

With United Nations climate negotiators facing an uphill battle to advance their goal of reducing emissions linked to global warming, it’s no surprise that the woman steering the talks appealed to a Mayan goddess Monday.

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, invoked the ancient jaguar goddess Ixchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also “the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you — because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools.”

Did anyone else catch this? We should have a 600th birthday party for a piece of air!!!

“One of them contains bubbles of air from the year 1410.”

I love that! This is better than tree rings!

    • Mike Davis says:

At only 600 years old it is possibly still firn and not yet compacted completely. As each location has its own properties and the amount of pressure provided by new snow layers needs to be taken into consideration at some locations on Antarctica there is little yearly snow and that requires longer for compaction to complete. That was the primary difference between the cores from Antarctica and Greenland as well as differences in cores from different locations on the Antarctic continent. The actual air bubbles in firn may be only a year or two old or a couple of hundred years old. That was the problem with dating CO2 concentrations in the ice cores among other problems encountered.
This type of stuff has fascinated me for years!

“Prince Charles hopes to raise awareness of global warming”

Really, Chuck, that’s your goal? Is there anyone left on the planet who hasn’t heard of global warming?
