Shock News : Scientist Caught Making Up Global Warming Drivel

OSLO (Reuters/Alister Doyle) – A North Atlantic current flowing into the Arctic Ocean is warmer than for at least 2,000 years in a sign that global warming is likely to bring ice-free seas around the North Pole in summers, a study showed.

Scientists said that waters at the northern end of the Gulf Stream, between Greenland and the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, averaged 6 degrees Celsius (42.80F) in recent summers, warmer than at natural peaks during Roman or Medieval times.

The temperature is unprecedented in the past 2,000 years,” lead author Robert Spielhagen of the Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Literature in Mainz, Germany, told Reuters of the study in Friday’s edition of the journal Science.

Major fail.  Temperatures there were much warmer 80 years ago.

Steve, file that article away for later…………..

Still can’t get the hang of that tricky fahrenheit/celsius conversion thing, I see.

  3. Anything is possible says:

    Doh! Misread that. Stupid comma.

I stand by my “numbnuts”, though

  4. Dave N says:

That’s because the 1922 temps have since been adjusted down by Hansen. He thinks their thermometers were broken, back then; everyone in the world had thermometers that were all wrong.

  5. Fred says:

Their hearts aren’t in it any more, even the true Believers at HuffPo . . . . you can tell because they didn’t even bother to photoshop up a picture of a desperate mama polar bear and her two desperate cubs to plant on that ‘berg.

Sad really, they used to be able to con the public with such publicity stunts, now they can’t even be bothered to torq the story.

  6. Andy Weiss says:

Who was measuring the water temperature 2,000 years ago? Wasn’t the thermometer invented about 500 years ago?

    • suyts says:

lol, well, you see when tree rings got debunked, the started polling little water bugs. The water bugs have a consensus…..

I missed the /sarc tags on the title.

There is something I just don’t understand… or it may be that I just don´t know.
I have always thougt that water warms/cools atmosphere, not the other way.
If CO2 is in the atmosphere, and it warms oceans, what is the amount of energy exchanged? I mean, what should the atmosphere temperature to be, in order to warm oceans by, let’s say, one degree Celsius, in a 30 years lapse?
