The words spoilt, Eton and brat come to mind.

When dreaming of adventure it is very important to get the distinction between fantasy and the objective reality of Nature, she is a harsh mistress indeed and can – without mercy or regard – crush one’s dreams that are disconnected from the cold facts of life.

In this case a bit of dream crushing might be a good thing to bring reality home to Parker.

I see by the patches on his coat that GE thinks they can profit from the endeavour.

  4. Al Gored says:

So much for the University of Alberta, in case anyone didn’t realize that. It is a far more rotten source of Conservation Biology pseudoscience than AGW pseudoscience but looks like they are now following more money.

  5. Billy Liar says:

He’s holding a downhill ski! Where are the hills on the way to the pole? Where is the ski lift to the north pole?

Why has the ski got downhill bindings and a brake on it? Is he really expecting the ski to run off if he comes out of the bindings?

Oh, I get it, he was in a sports store when the picture was taken. It won’t be -35C there then.

God save us from environmental campaigners.

  6. Billy Liar says:

PS He’ll need a pair of water skis to ski across the ‘melted arctic’.

PPS Oops! didn’t read the title of the post!

I’m wondering what “important message of climate change” gained by some pimple faced pinhead skiing to the north pole?

  9. Amino Acids in Meteorites says:

GE made their logo so hard to see.

  10. MikeTheDenier says:

Seems London is full of some really stupid people. Maybe he’ll bring back stories of what it’s like to live without heat and light and prepare his fellow citizens for life without electricity.

  11. Chris F says:

What the hell does skiing to the North Pole have to do with global warming?

  12. Andy Weiss says:

An obvious publicity stunt. How can he possibly show evidence of “climate change” by what he encounters on a 0ne shot basis?

    • Al Gored says:

No problem Amino. His skiing will be peer reviewed. The results can be extrapolated, adjusted, and then modeled, and will be robust and alarming. If he never gets out of his tent it will at least prove once and for all that the planetary fever he destroyed the ski industry.

On another tangent they ought to call this the Clearasil Expedition.

    Is stuck in moderation?

No great loss to be sure, just wondering.

With any luck a polar bear will enjoy a meal out of this!

This goes back to the fact that for the left, life is all a big publicity stunt. Every part of it.

They can’t see beyond the idea that if they can just get enough publicity on this issue, everyone will believe it.

And I agree the GE patches tell the story of the circle jerk going on here. Self Absorbed attention seeker either extorts funding from a sponsor, or (in this case) finds a rent seeking sponsor who expects to benefit from the scam (and may well be using tax dollars for the sponsorship). Everybody gets what they want on the public dime, and if successful in their scam, we’ll be stuck shoveling money to these jerks for the rest of our lives.
