    Let’s not forget the 1935 hurricane, worst on record and the New England Hurricane of 1938 that killed 700+ people.

    My hometown seriously flooded in 1934 before my time but is a big part of local history:

    Storm control channels were subsequently built and I vividly remember them filled to the brim in the 1970s and remember flooding and landslides in the 70s as well.
