What is glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA), and why do you correct for it?
since the ocean basins are getting larger due to GIA, this will reduce by a very small amount the relative sea level rise that is seen along the coasts.
the GIA correction has the effect of increasing previous estimates of the global mean sea level rate by 0.3 mm/yr.
Why on Earth would you report a number above the observed sea level? This is beyond asinine. If they keep doing this, their data will eventually show sea level higher than the West Side Highway in New York, while people will still be driving their cars there.
It is the financial equivalent of adding your withholding tax to your net income.
It is a VALUE added Adjustment to make the numbers look better. We would not want the poor dears to feel bad about not finding anything to be concerned about! Would we? (Little Devil here)
Next adjustment will be needed for NIVDA: New Island Volume Displacement Adjustment
Like the new island growing south of the big island in Hawaii. Wiki: Loihi Seamount
And then Hansen would be proven right and Tony Dunce-y-man will have to concoct another labyrinthine defense and threaten to foist that on us.
Oh but the amusement. I actually wish they TonyD’s would post more often, but alas they steer away from a mojority of posts.
I had him on spam for a few days.
“Climate Secret: NSF Quietly Closes Out Inspector General Investigation with Complete Vindication of Michael Mann”
Yes, Romm is completely delusional…
“Two things we know with extremely high confidence:
1 Recent warming is unprecedented in magnitude and speed and cause (so the temperature history looks like a Hockey Stick).
2 Michael Mann, the lead author on the original Hockey Stick paper, is one of the nation’s top climatologists and a source of first-rate analysis.”
And this assclown is considered by many to be an expert on climate. The MWP just never happened. Repeat the lie often enough…
This is what happens when “scientists” start with the conclusion and work backwards through the scientific process
