Colorado Springs Wildfire Proves Climate Change Can No Longer Be Ignored

After over a week of burning, approximately 17,000 acres of timber in and around the Pike National Forest has been destroyed, along with almost 350 homes. At least two people have been killed in the fire, and some 35,000 more have been evacuated from their homes while crews battle to keep the blaze in check. In terms of damage done to private property, the Waldo Canyon Fire is the most destructive in Colorado state history. The previous record? The still-smoldering High Park fire just two hours to the north.

Colorado Springs Wildfire Proves Climate Change Can No Longer Be Ignored

In 1871, the Peshtigo fire burned 1,200,000 million acres and killed 2,000 people. The 1871 fire burned seventy times as much forest and killed one thousand times as many people.

As far as Colorado fires go, the 1898 Colorado fire was 100 times larger than the fires this year.  They didn’t have cable TV in 1898, and people were smart enough not to build hundreds of homes right next to each other in the middle of pine forest – which naturally burns every 20 years.

Stroming confuses his own ignorance and stupidity with climate change.
