“Where’s my global warming?”
Under 3C here near Newark. Frost on the ground! Ludicrous for August.
Which Newark?
From what I understand, the UK had an unusually cold, wet summer.
Andy, there’s actually nothing unusual about the UK being cold and wet during summer, It’s not even unusual for it to be hot, dry and sunny during summer, and It’s not unusual for there to be thunder storms, hurricanes, heat waves or for it to be hot and clammy or have a high pollen count, drought conditions are not unusual, floods are not unusual mostly happening in the usual places known to be pron to floods (beside rivers and after a prolonged dry spell etc), and it has even snowed in some places during summer. frost and fog is not unusual.
I get the feeling you already know this lol.
What is so predictable about our weather is the unpredictability. We barely have seasons compared to other climes.
There’s a big hill five miles in front of my parents, who have a saying.
“If you can see Winter Hill, its going to rain”.
We think the Vikings that settled in Rivington and Anglezarke in the 800’s named it Vin-Tor (Wine Hill). Alas, the weather they enjoyed then is sadly not here now.
