New Counting Method Allows Climate Scientists To Make Up Any Numbers They Want To

This week marks seven years since the US was hit by a major hurricane, and it has been more than 20 years since the US was hit by a category five hurricane.

Scientists celebrate the record calm by making up a new way to prove that hurricanes are getting stronger.

New Study Ties Hurricane Strength To Global Warming

One of the major unanswered questions about climate change is whether hurricanes have become more frequent and stronger as the world has warmed. Until now, there hasn’t been enough evidence to settle the question, but a report published Monday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences may have changed all that. Using an entirely new method of tallying hurricane power and frequency, a team of scientists say that hurricanes are, indeed, more of a danger when ocean temperatures are higher.

The only well defined number in climate science is the amount of money they receive in funding. All other numbers are completely flexible.

It would be interesting to put a 1000 mb central pressure as the threshold for naming a tropical storm. Sometime long ago, a journal article said that 1000 mb pressure was required for a genuine tropical storm. If you applied that standard, it would eliminate a huge number of named abortions during recent years. Then you could make a fair comparison with past years using that same criterion.

  2. “Tom Knutson, another GFDL scientist, has a second worry. “The start date in 1923,” he said, also by email, “is a relatively low period in landfalling and basin-wide hurricane/or tropical storm time series with relatively higher activity in the late 1800s.” His point: if you start during unusual lull, it’s not surprising that you get what looks like a significant increase afterward.”

    • I noticed that temperatures warmed about 60 degrees between January and July. This was no doubt due to increasing CO2 levels in the northern hemisphere, and decreasing CO2 levels in the southern hemisphere.

“…Using an entirely new method of tallying hurricane power and frequency…”

    It’s not a new method.

    It’s called lying.

All this evidence tampering should be placed in VP Ryan’s lap early on so he can put a stop to it. He knows the score on this scam and has a good understanding of what’s really going on.

you bet, he can make up bull shit faster than anyone, repuglican intellectual.

the science here seems to amero-centric, if hurricanes don’t hit the US there can’t be more of them or they can[t be stronger

  5. Billy Liar says:

hurricanes are, indeed, more of a danger when ocean temperatures are higher

The corollary of this statement, bearing in mind the current dearth of powerful hurricanes, is that ocean temperatures have fallen.

Where’s the global warming in that?

Flexibility , I like that term . I wonder if I can apply that to my finances ? I wonder if I can call up hansen and mann and get advice on flexibility ? I don’t know though , something about it seems dishonest . But hey if they can do it , why not me ? But all that spinning you have to do to keep ahead of the fact checkers is bothersome . 🙂

    Hi Steven,

George Orwell explained how a government used deceptive propaganda to control people under Stalin prior to the Second World War in the novel, “Animal Farm”.

The United Nations (UN) was formed on 24 Oct 1945, almost immediately after atomic bombs ended the Second World War. Governments started promoting deceptive models of the cores of atoms [1] and stars [2] in 1946.

George Orwell wrote a futuristic novel in 1948 warning that new governments would use deceptive propaganda again to control the public after the Second World War: Nineteen Eighty-Four (“1984”).

Here’s a summary of the decision to form the UN on 24 Oct 1945 and again control the public with deceptive propaganda:

It is hard to believe that preconceived conclusions and political correctness do not bias highly politized climate science research. Not to mention the funding at stake.

One also has to be very naive to not see manipulation of raw temperature data by agenda driven climate scientists as suspect. Especially when data is repeatedly manipulated in such a manner that cools the past and warms the present, obviously to show a faster, scarier rate of warming.

“As ocean temperatures have risen inexorably higher in the general warming of the planet due to human greenhouse-gas emissions…”

“As spirit possessions have risen inexorably higher in the general haunting of the planet due to ghost farts…”

  10. rw says:

I buy the relation between hurricane strength and warming. This is one reason to conclude that it’s not warming.
