A box cutter is not much of a match for a .45 caliber bullet.
That gun free zone cost 4,000 lives, including this person
Terrorists know very well where the gun free zones are. I am amazed that a similar incident was not carried out by a small terrorist cell. I think a similar thing happened in Kazakhstan a few years ago. Schools are very accesible, extremely soft targets where maximum terrorist effect can be had – small children. I think the shooter in this case has shown that he was able to figure these things out even though he was a loner and acted alone.
It was in North Assetia in the town of Beslan in 2004:
Resulted in 380 people dying, included 334 hostages, 186 of which were children. I could be wrong, but I bet that not only was that a gun-free school zone, but a gun free nation as well. Either way, made for a great target for the armed Islamic separatist militants.
“Private citizens may not own handguns. Shotguns and hunting rifles are permitted, but they must be registered, ballistically fingerprinted and stored at home in locked metal containers separate from ammunition. Legal guns may only be moved outside the home in disassembled condition. During a life-threatening situation, even if a gun owner manages to retrieve and load his weapon in time, it may only be used for self-defense within the owner’s home.”
“El Al is renowned for its strict security procedures. It has armed guards at every ticket counter – many of whom are former Israeli soldiers.
It also has undercover agents on every plane and armed guards at every ticket counter. Aircrafts’ cockpits are protected with double doors.”
It is because of common sense measures such as this, that El Al can serve inflight meals like streak, and still provide you with a steak knife.
They also have undercover personnel on the tarmac. I flew El-Al during the summer of 1998 – they don’t mess around.
Wow… Even I am stunned. I have a very high tolerance of stupidity on the Internet, but that article plumbs new depths. Sixty seconds of googling will show how amazingly anti-historical it is!
Speaking through a “Medium”! ROFLMFAO!!!!!
😆 it’s the OPINION without the P.
It’s a spoof site.
Whew! I honestly did not see the “spoof” description on the top of the page and thought it was one more attempt of some anti-gun person to make a “humorous” opinion piece. For what it is worth, I have had people seriously give me almost the exact same argument. “Well, sure they put that whole Second Amendment thing in there, but that only applies to muskets!” At some point I guess that humor does, in fact, imitate life.
On the other hand, the first time I saw the infamous 10:10 video of the teacher murdering school kids, I thought that must be a parody of the CAGW crowd. I mean… no one could do something like that with the hope that it would REALLY sway the undecided about CAGW! I was sadly amazed to find that it was real.
All kidding aside, the opinions of MSM and the articles being presented as serious editorials have gotten so bizarre that it is getting difficult to know editorials from parody.
That’s the way they work, hoping no one will notice.
Did you do your due dilligence and confirm that the person in the last photo did not survive?
Scott is ready for his swirly now.
Let’s see Scott, the World Trade Towers were 1,369 feet high to their roof. This person, at their present spot in the photo, is at least 1/2 the way up (735 feet lets say). What do you suppose the odds of a person hitting concrete from a height of 735ft, and surviving are? Can you point us to ANY case EVER whereby someone has survived such a fall? I am pretty sure, and sadly so, it is very safe to assume that this person didn’t make it home for dinner … shithead…
Sixteen year old Luke Woodham was distraught due to the fact that his girlfriend of the time had broken up with him, so he started by beating and stabbing his mother to death at their home. Woodham then took a lever action .30-30 hunting rifle with him to his school, Pearl High. He made no attempt to hide or conceal the rifle. He entered the school and began shooting students. Two people were killed and seven others wounded. The first person killed was Woodham’s ex-girlfriend. After she was shot Woodham began shooting indiscriminately at anyone in the area.
Woodham knew that the police would soon be on their way, but he had no plans to allow himself to be captured or kill himself (as is popular with many mass murderers). Woodham had planned to drive to nearby Pearl Junior High School and continue his shooting spree while police were occupied with the confusion at Pearl High.
Woodham successfully made his way to his car well before police arrived. However, Woodham would never make it to Pearl Junior High.
Assistant Princiapl Joel Myrick heard the shooting when it began and immediately went into action. After getting several students to safety and figuring out what was going on Myrick knew what he had to do. Myrick had a Colt .45 handgun in his truck. Due to gun laws Myrick was not allowed to carry his gun on his person. Myrick ran to his vehicle, retrieved the gun, loaded it, and headed back to the school.
Woodham was already in the parking lot, getting into his car. Myrick confronted Woodham in the parking lot, held his gun to the boy’s head and managed to subdue Woodham until police arrived.
There is simply no telling how many lives were saved by this educator who took steps to make sure that he was prepared for any situation and to use a weapon when it was necessary to save the lives of others.
At Sandy Hook, the principal heroically tried to physically subdue the gunman. She was shot and killed.
Joel Myrick shows, if she had her own gun, this could have ended differently.
Exactly, I didn’t hear about that until now.
[T]hose who study mass shootings say they are not becoming more common.
“There is no pattern, there is no increase,” says criminologist James Allen Fox of Boston’s Northeastern University, who has been studying the subject since the 1980s, spurred by a rash of mass shootings in post offices.
The random mass shootings that get the most media attention are the rarest, Fox says. Most people who die of bullet wounds knew the identity of their killer.
Society moves on, he says, because of our ability to distance ourselves from the horror of the day, and because people believe that these tragedies are “one of the unfortunate prices we pay for our freedoms.”
Grant Duwe, a criminologist with the Minnesota Department of Corrections who has written a history of mass murders in America, said that while mass shootings rose between the 1960s and the 1990s, they actually dropped in the 2000s. And mass killings actually reached their peak in 1929, according to his data. He estimates that there were 32 in the 1980s, 42 in the 1990s and 26 in the first decade of the century.
Chances of being killed in a mass shooting, he says, are probably no greater than being struck by lightning.
There is one not-so-tiny flaw in all of these theories for the increase in mass shootings. And that is that mass shootings have not increased in number or in overall body count, at least not over the past several decades.
Just media attention brought on to it.
Faster and wider spread communications. MSM loves blood and gore!
I guess every first grader will now get shooting lessons.
No, but the Principal and some teachers should…at every school.
I received a hand me down Daisy from my brother when I was in the 1st grade. You could actually watch the BB travel in an arc as it meandered toward the target. It did not teach me marksmanship, but it did teach me firearm safety and discipline. There have been zero gun related accidents in my family, not even a close call.
I still have that Daisy, it hangs in my bar, along with many wonderful memories.
I still have mine too. 😆 well is wasn’t a daisy.. So I guess now they will ban pellet guns err something.
A number of years ago I purchased a high power air rifle used for competition shooting, and because of the high fps velocity, it is required to be registered just like my 12 ga.
Hide the BB gun while you can. 😉
Ya pretty much can’t point a slingshot in someones direction here by mistake, and not to mention the airsoft guns, can’t wait till they ban the paintball, but they probably have somewhere.
My kids were proficient with rifles by age 10. I didn`t get started until I was 12, but your argument is a straw man. Schools have lots of adults.
The real issue is that the school was selected because of the easy access to easy targets. This guy knew exactly what he was doing, which was trying to get the high score before ending it all (I do think there is an element of that going on here with these suicidal lunatics). He was provided the best, for him, situati0n to execute as many as possible. Notice that these things end when another armed adversary appears on the scene. These situations will continue to happen as cowardly pieces of shit know where to go to carry out these deeds in relative safety for enough time to become infamous.
Reports indicate that Lanza had two pistols and an assault rifle. And on the basis of those reports the Democrats call for a ban on assault rifles. The question is, how many of the victims were actually shot with the rifle? Logic suggests that the weapon of choice against unarmed people in confined spaces would be the two pistols. So what was the count? And would a ban on assault rifles have made a scrap of difference to the body count?
That is not the point.
Guns that look scary because they have plastic instead of wood, are frightening to people and should be banned.
The acceptable viewpoint here, is that the guns are at fault, and insane homicidal maniacs should be free to walk among us, and are not dangerous as long as they cannot get guns from their mothers.
And particularly, as long as they cannot get the “scary looking” guns … I have always laughed at the stupidity when I have heard people wanting to ban “assault rifles” .. really? .. and a lever action 30/30 is less deadly how? … I recently watched a TV show about trick shooters and marksmen. They had a guy on there tearing through rounds like a machine gun with a standard lever action 30/30. It was impressive as hell. I contend he was more accurate and faster with that 30/30 than anyone with an M16. It was awesome to watch.
A ban already did make a difference in the count. It was a ‘gun free zone.’ Count might have been ‘0’.
And this is truly the sadness of it all. If it were me deciding these things, you would see armed personnel crawling all over school campuses and each teacher required to take courses and carry all the time (just like law enforcement).
To add to my prior comment, another potentially positive side-effect of having teachers carrying. I would suggest that classroom behavior might improve a tad as well… Hard to give someone much of a hard time when they are packing.
All of the children were shot by the rifle, some as many as eleven times. He also used the rifle to blast a hole into the school.
“…Mr. Clinton, sir, America didn’t trust you with our health-care system. America didn’t trust you with gays in the military. America doesn’t trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don’t trust you with our guns..”- Charlton Heston
I have been saying it was the gun free zones for a long time. For anyone wanting a petri dish of a test case, just google Virginia Tech and Appalachian State. Same, state, same area of the state, same business, vastly different outcome.
