The murder rate in Wyoming from 2000-2010 was 1.9 per 100,000 population, which is lower than many countries in Europe. Violent crime rates in Wyoming rank in the bottom six for the US.
By contrast, Connecticut has only 17% gun ownership.
Here in Fort Collins, just about everyone owns a gun, and we also have low crime rates. Our murder rate is about the same as the UK, but our overall crime rate is about one sixth of the UK. The crime rate in the UK in 2011 was 233 per 1,000 population, compared to only 38 per 1,000 population in Fort Collins.
