It’s between Ealing and Richmond – West London
I agree with you about the EPL but those 2 matches look like FA cup.Still great football anyway you look at it,Cheers
Well, I was actually being a bit sarcastic, with billion pound Chelsea and Liverpool getting humiliated by zero budget teams at the bottom.
Brentford FC is very close to the top of the UK NPower League 1 – that is two divisions below the Premier League (Chelski). Geographically, it is a few miles to the west of London (try GoogleEarth) and used to be the UK HQ of the Firestone Tyre Company – where my father worked his b**** off to keep us.
As a Chelski supporter I have to call my nephew in Chicago (one of the few Brentford supporters still alive) and congratulate him on his temporary smugness.
At least we didn’t have any gamesmanship ballboys today……..
Thirty klicks from Fartinkle-on-Avon, I believe.
That’s Upper Fartinkle-on-Avon if I’m not mistaken.
I played city-league soccer for three years, but it’s still kickball.
Coming into London from the west. Used to have a pub on all four corners of the ground, tho’ I gather it’s only three now. Their manager is that old Man City favourite, Uwe Rösler (and Oldham,s another, Paul Dickov who scored deep into time added on in the1999 2nd division play-off (the rest is history).
Does anyone know where Brentford is?
I am an occassional supporter of the Bees – my local team. Their Griffin Park ground is a 15 minute walk from my home – or a bit longer if I stop off at one of the 10 pubs on the way.
Traditional London ground, three pubs and no parking. Bus, train or walk to get there. Has hardly changed since I first went to a game in 1972. Great atmosphere with a dedicated kid-friendly family stand.
