“In his statement, Gleick claims he committed this crime because he believed The Heartland Institute was preventing a “rational debate” from taking place over global warming. This is unbelievable. Heartland has repeatedly asked for real debate on this important topic. Gleick himself was specifically invited to attend a Heartland event to debate global warming just days before he stole the documents. He turned down the invitation.

To Gleick, a rational debate is one where everyone agrees with him. When he knows they’re not going to, he turns down the invitation.

Except in the bizarro, circle-of-life world of the five basic components to the scientific method of climate alarmism – 1 – lie, 2 – get caught, 3 – apologize using some lame excuse generally blaming others for causation, 4 – appear on the establishment media sympathetic talking head pity parties, 5 – achieve victim status. Rinse and repeat.
I’m not sure how Gleick will fare in the courts, but he will most certainly be held up as a pop-culture hero in the court of public opinion shaped by the establishment media. Which I believe was Gleick’s (and the rest of the Teams) goal from the beginning.of the CAGW scare – nothing to do with the climate and everything to do with self-promotion/enriching themselves.
