Assault weapons that can fire numerous times in seconds are designed for only one thing: killing large numbers of people. The military and law enforcement officers need that ability; ordinary law-abiding citizens do not.
We have been there and done that.
The author is a complete idiot. The reason that tens of millions of Americans own these weapons is because they are an excellent deterrent. You are more likely to be killed by a hammer than by a rifle in the US.
