Understanding Dog Training

If you want to train dogs to sniff bombs, you would normally do it at a place where there were bombs.

University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.

“They kept making announcements to the participants do not worry, it’s just a training exercise,” Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15.

This is sounding more and more like a spontaneous YouTube protest, or workplace violence. Bomb sniffing dogs that can’t detect bombs.

  2. “Anger over Boston’s poor showing in this year’s race boiled over today, as a frenzied mob spontaneously appeared at the finish line and hurled lighted cigarettes, two of which inadvertently ignited hydrogen-filled balloons…next to kiosks selling ball-bearings of a standard shrapnel size.”

It’s great that you are documenting the inconsistencies with this story and also sandy hook. Now you need to learn about the same type of “coincidence” that shrouds the london bombings, the madrid bombings, the moscow bombings, sept 11th, ok city, etc.

  4. George B says:

It would appear from reports that the bombs were not planted until moments before the explosions according to reports about surveillance video seeing a person carrying two backpacks in the area of the explosions shortly before they went off.

ya reckon bystanders would;nt?? do a double take at someone dumping a backpack INTO a bin?

Not if they were distracted–watching people cross the finish line. Ask any pickpocket how easily distracted people can be.

  5. Robertv says:

One hour after the finish in a restricted area with nearly no public. On the other side of the road it would have done MUCH more damage. A Very incompetent terrorist.

  6. margaret berger says:

Bomb dogs are not trained with bombs. They are trained to smell the explosives and components that bombs are made of. The odor has to be available for the dog to smell it. That means if the wind is blowing and carrying the odor away from the dog it will not smell it. If you are sweeping an area you do it in a grid pattern so that you don’t miss a possible hiding place. You must present each area to the dog from low to high and move on. The dog is only as good as it’s training and handler.
