Shock News : The Rowers Say That Ice Is Blocking Their Route

The limiting factor for us – so far anyhow – is not the ice choking the route ahead but rather the wind strafing it.

The Inuit word Quinuituq means ‘deep patience’

The French word for polar meltdown is “marde

    Uh-oh…

  2. Fred from Canuckistan says:

I recall they have bottle of decent whiskey on board to celebrate their triumphant ow into Pond Inlet – it would be a great media moment to plug their cause.

Since they have lots of ice and not a snowball’s hope in hell of making it to PI, maybe they should crack the bottle and have some on the rocks.

“On the rocks” . . . excellent metaphor for their Great Greenie Eco Adventure Disaster.

  3. Chewer says:

Their latest update basically says that they had no idea how to design a boat and that they had no idea what the Arctic is all about.
Their dreams of grandeur and total lack of logic has turned their trip into one of eye opening reality.
They realize what it’s like to feel like complete assholes and know they have zero chance of completing the trip.

  4. kbray in california says:

There is a new interview found via their Facebook page in which they admit that ice is blocking them ahead. A recent post.

    • kbray in california says:

For some reason it won’t link.

    • That is odd. When I pointed that out to them two weeks ago, Reggie declared that I was the “second stupidest person on the Internet”

      • stewart pid says:

It appears their tracker is now down or they took it down out of embarrassment. They have a new blog up saying they are riding at anchor (for a change 😉
I really like the idea of a poll on when they give up or how far they get. At this time I would be betting $5 on “giving up” but if they ever got a lucky break / tail wind they may yet surprise us all.
I wonder if Reggie would like to place a bet on his horse!

  5. B.C. says:

“It’s not the elephant blocking the road. It’s the fly on the elephant’s trunk that is blocking the road!”

These guys are a contemporary Monty Python skit, albeit via Kosmic Klueless Karma. Where’s a dead parrot when you need one?

    Skeptic: “The expedition’s dead!”

Reggie: “It’s not dead, it’s merely taking a nap. A well-deserved hiatus, if you will.”

Skeptic “My good sir, it is most categorically DEAD. It’s tossin’ kippers at the seals that guard the Pearly Gates! It’s pushin’ up daisies under the arses of picnicking maidens in Wellsbury Park!”

Reggie: “I beg to differ! They are merely waiting for the world-famous Blow Torch of Algorea to rise up and melt the ice and calm the winds, so that they may complete their epic voyage to save humanity!”

Skeptic: “You, sir, a complete and utter tosser. The expedition is past the point of polar bear excrement and is feeding the krill under the ice. They need to turn back, admit that they and their AGW gods were wrong and go back to doing something useful, like picking up garbage on the sides of roadways.”

    • George Turner says:

      That’s good. 🙂

Next they’ll have to strap on their snow shoes and join the department of funny walks so they can make it back to civilization.

  6. Azygos says:

I hear that boats made out of baby seal skins make excellent arctic boats.

  7. Jean-Paul says:

Sorry to disagree, but “marde” is no French word. It is a word made up in Quebec from the French word “merde” (which vulgarly means “faeces”), used by those inhabitants of Canada when they are speaking about snow. They use to say “la marde blanche” when they actually mean “White Christmas” :o)

  8. Ben says:

RE: ‘The French word for polar meltdown is “marde“’

The German phrase for deep denial is “Tief Kot” 😉

  9. Stephen Richards says:

I think you mean la merde. The brown stuff.

  10. Gerald Machnee says:

I hope they get lots of pics of global warming “melting” the ice.
