  1. OP says:

Sir Bob will be the first paddy in pace, he proudly announced. Roumour has it that Bono is angry. He too wants to save the climate from above (using a climate neutral space shuttle). 😉

  2. Bome Idle says:

Another Aged Rock Star on drugs?

  3. Rex says:

Is Sir Bob trying to be the new Harold Camping?

  4. Mike Mellor says:

I want some of what he’s been taking.

  5. Bruce of Newcastle says:

He’ll be 79 in 2030. His liver is probably already past its use-by date. So he can say that and likely it won’t matter if he’s wrong or right.

On the other hand the evidence suggests his brain is beyond its use-by date right now. Those Goan drugs must be really hot stuff.

  6. Gamecock says:

    Women and minorities hardest hit.

  7. MikeTheDenier says:

I hope Bob is at the front of the line

  8. Ed says:

    “It’s clap-trap….. and you’ve been caught”

  9. gator69 says:

We are the knights who say “eek”!

  10. nigelf says:

This is a good thing for yahoo’s like Sir Bob to state what they think. Anybody that would take him seriously doesn’t deserve the time of day.
It’s great when they shoot themselves in the foot like that. One more to cross off my list to never listen to again.

  11. kbray in california says:

Geldof. That’s what veterinarians do to horse testicles.
    He’s been bobbed.
    “eek”! (and ouch!)

  12. R. Shearer says:

I’d live it up except that the direction of the country depresses me.

  13. Andy DC says:

Someone with a severe psychiatric disorder. There used to be Lunatic Asylums for people like that.

  14. Latitude says:

…and yet, he still can’t predict the lotto

  15. tom0mason says:

Geldof is a rich has-been of little worth to the real world. Why should anyone listen to this loudmouthed, deranged idiot?

  16. Eric Simpson says:

Sir Bob is just following the advise of the first chairman of the ipcc and another Sir, John Houghton, who said: “Unless we announce disasters no one will listen.”
And Sir Bob is also following the advise of Stephen Schneider, a lead ipcc author that said in 1989:
“We have to offer up scary scenarios… each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective [lying] and being honest [ineffective].” Yeah, Bob is trying to do the scary scenario thing.
Does Bob think we’re all going to be dead and also half the world will be flooded? Like: “Entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.” -Noel Brown, ex UNEP Director, 1989
Or: “[in twenty years (2008)] the West Side Highway (and thus much of Manhattan) will be under water.” -James Hansen, 1988, NASA
And does Bob think we’re all going to be dead and dead fish will clog the oceans? Like: “In ten years all important animal life in the sea will be extinct. Large areas of coastline will have to be evacuated because of the stench of dead fish.” -Paul Ehrlich, Earth Day 1970
Does Bob think we’re all going to be dead and it will be a holocaust? Like: “By the turn of the century [2000], an ecological catastrophe which will witness devastation as complete, as irreversible as any nuclear holocaust.” -Mustafa Tolba, 1982, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program
I was thinking this all was kind of a shame that Bob uttered this farcical bunk because I used to really like the Boomtown Rats’ song “Something’s Gone Wrong Again,” but then I realized it wasn’t from the lame Boomtown Rats but from the Buzzcocks:

  17. Kaboom says:

Only if they start playing his songs on the radio again.

  18. Jack says:

If Bob were honest he’s say there’s a chance he’d have a bath by 2030.

  19. Jimbo says:

Geldof: ‘a mass extinction event’ What kind of mass extinction event was he thinking of that will occur within the next 17 years? Meteor strike?

  20. Lawrence13 says:

The only extinction Geldof has first hand knowledge of is his band the Boom Town Rats who thrived for around six months in the seventies way before AGW.

He is also famous for Band Aid in the eighties . He is obviously trying to extend his public profile with an adult version of ‘I’m a Celebrity’. It’s now ‘I’m a warmist get those sceptics outta here.

  21. Larry Fields says:

Sir Bob (like America’s very own James “Coal Trains of Death” Hansen) is making Warmies everywhere look like idiots. Although that’s a good thing, I wish that Sir Bob could do it without scaring the bejesus out of innocent children.

  22. Colorado Wellington says:

What a piker. I know a street preacher with no teeth left who says 7 years.

  23. Eric Simpson says:

We’ve had no warming over the last 17 years.

And 17 years ago the doomsayers and their trumped up models all predicted that by now we’d be swamped in climate change problems, the oceans rising over Manhattan, the temperature going through the roof. But no. The ocean is just where it was 17 years ago. The temperature… is the same.

We’ve had nothing on global warming for 17 years. Zero. But Geldof wants us to believe that all of a sudden temperatures are going to start skyrocketing, in such a boiling way that we are all going to be dead … in 17 years. Right. What a raving loon.

  24. Lumpi says:

What do you expect from such a man:

“Before they married, the couple had a daughter, Fifi Trixibelle Geldof, (…). She was named Fifi after Bob’s aunt Fifi, and Trixibelle because Paula wanted a belle in the family.[4] The couple later had two more daughters, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof[80] (known as Peaches Geldof) on 13 March 1989,[81] and Little Pixie Geldof”

  25. ralphcramdo says:

Did Bob mention how much he doesn’t like Mondays?
