The location of that “missing ice” seems to be at the leading edge of the point where warmer North Atlantic currents enter the Arctic basin, no?
As I have learned from @bigjoebastardi, when the AMO heads back down like in the past the Arctic sea Ice will full recover to the magical cherry picking starting point of Arctic sea Ice records.
With the amount of cold air in the N Hemisphere and quiet sun the AMO should step down and continue for many years.
The sun is main driver of both the AMO and PDO and lag time is up for the Atlantic.

Pacific is much larger then the Atlantic but the Atlantic is closer to land masses making it slower to cool because of less cloud cover from dry air masses that move over it from land. That is my feeling.
