Genius Climate Scientists Take Second Boat Down With Them

A rescue mission for a ship stuck in ice in Antarctica is under threat as reports have emerged that one of the assisting vessels may itself be stuck.

Fifty-two passengers and four crew members were due to be evacuated by helicopter from China’s Xue Long ship as soon as conditions allowed.

However, the Xue Long has barely moved in a day and may be stuck in the ice.

The research vessel Akademik Shokalskiy has been trapped for nearly a week with 74 scientists, tourists and crew.

  1. Leave them. Let them embrace their destiny. Don’t waste tax $ saving a bunch of morons and monkeys with ‘models’. The global IQ will rise.

  2. Just a hint of the dangers of mass delusion. Will the world listen?

  3. Mohatdebos says:

These “scientists” make Baghdad Bob/Chemical Ali appear to be a paragon of truth and integrity. Nothing to see here. We are planning a New Year’s Eve party, learning Spanish, and doing yoga. Meanwhile, rescuers are risking their lives, burning thousands of gallons of diesel fuel, and spending God only knows, how much money.

  4. ozspeaksup says:

in a more “normal” scenario..I;d say get the tourists off.
    but
the gullible warmist oriented paying tourists are in part..responsible for funding the warmist twits, helping them spread bullshit and Guardian greenscum also get benefit from it..rather odd how QUIET??? theyve been about the stuck ship though..gee wonder why that’d be?
dunno if the chinese ship is stuck? or just holding position as close as they can for a break in storms and fast evac?

  5. Gamecock says:

    It’s worse than they thought.

  6. Justa Joe says:

Prof Turkey assures everyone that the ice, which trapped their ship, was not caused by cold.

Anything to try and prove “Global Warming.”

  8. Bloke down the pub says:

According to this site http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/home# , the Xue Long is currently travelling at 3.6Kn on a course of 012°

  9. Fred from Canuckistan says:

They should have used rowboats. Always preferable when you are “proving” the polar ice is melting due to global warming and rogue blow torches.

  10. copernicus34 says:

They’re gonna need a bigger blowtorch.

  11. Louis Hooffstetter says:

I sincerely don’t wish anyone any harm, but Ferdinand is right. this is a classic example of natural selection at work. If they’re not careful, these ‘Tar Babies’ will get the Aurora Australis stuck as well.

  12. margaret berger says:

This and the summer row boat expedition has taught me that shandefreude is a dish best served cold. With that said, I hope the idiots and all those helping them get out of this mess alive.

    • GregO says:

Yes, I hope everyone makes it out OK. These fools appear by all accounts to be tenderfoots – I mean from some of the photos they seem to have some nice wintery clothes – jackets, nice sunglasses and all; but I wonder what they have by way of foot-gear, mittens, and face protection. It is probably safe to assume that walking anywhere is out of the question for them, so they are stuck on that boat until they can be airlifted. Chinese helicopter? Hmmmm. Hope the weather holds out. I understand the American ice-breaker Polar Star is (coincidentally…) on the way to Antarctica as we speak.

It is still more than a week out, and there are no plans for it to participate in any rescue mission…yet.

      • Justa Joe says:

The USA always ends up with the bill. Coincidentally these Guardian types and their Green party fellow travelers are as anti-American as they come.

  13. Gamecock says:

This just in: Scientists discover it’s cold in Antarctica.

  14. Andy Oz says:

Chris Turkey dreams of being the new climate messiah.
He’s hoping to be taken up!

  15. Eric Simpson says:

Super Geniuses they are! Record growth of ice in the Arctic, record levels of sea ice in the Antarctic, and record cold across the globe, and this all well publicized news over the last several months, but these dimwits apparently think that their very presence will cause the ice to melt, to part. So they go down there led by a colossal idiot of a climate scientist, and of course they get stuck in ice, despite it being summer there. And then the Einsteins say that all the ice is proof that the ice the melting. It’s as if this scientist and the ipcc were to say that the freezing cold at both poles and across the globe is proof of global warming. Brilliant! Let’s give the geniuses at the ipcc the Nobel Prize for physics chemistry climate science .. p e a c e .. so that the ipcc can join Obama among the ranks of super genius holders of the Nobel peace prize.

  16. Kepler says:

After all the geniuses and crew have been evacuated I hope that Gaia sees fit to go ahead and just send that party boat down to Davey Jones’ Locker. It would be a fitting end to this hilarious saga, and would show all of the progressives involved who is really in charge down there in the Antarctic.

    • Andy Oz says:

The environmental disaster from the bunker oil that would go down with the ship would forever be an albatross around the neck of Turney et al, the Guardian and the UNSW Climate Scam Department. Antarctica was pristine until all these morons showed up.

  17. Phil Jones says:

None of this makes sense… We…. We were told it was thin ice… Just a bump in the road towards Apocalyptic Global Warming!!

Maybe they should blow CO2 on the ice to melt it…

  18. Kepler says:

The situation is deteriorating rapidly. Mutiny is probably imminent. They are running out of alcohol.

‘But Peacock said drinks were running low, with “just enough alcohol left to celebrate” the arrival of 2014.’

    • GregO says:

Darn it! I just knew this whole thing was going to get ugly!

    • Eric Simpson says:

      Low on booze… and smokes!

You’d be surprised how many of the greenies are hooked on nicotine, and without their nic fix these “tourists” are going to be thinking in terms of abandoning ship and joining the Penguins (lol on the Penguin in the picture of your link). If they can’t be airlifted out, they should at least try air dropping them some booze and cigs so they don’t go the crazed way of Shackleton (?) or Jack in The Shining. Maybe a new “true story” Cabin Fever movie will come out of this.

Sincerely it would be poetic justice if those that have bamboozled the world would see the bad weather climate continue, and no one can airlift them out, and a family sized icicle pierces their hull and they join up with those from the Titanic that a century earlier came to a frigid fate. Of course no one here wants that fate to befall them, despite the fact that scare mongers like Phil Jones in the Climategate emails continually wishing for a hotter world, despite their constant pronouncements that a hotter world would bring on widespread death and destruction.

What do you call something that lays on the bottom of the sea, and shivers?
      … A nervous wreck. 🙂

How is the sled powered ? by solar? U have no dogs on the front of it…u do know it has a front ??

    • Andy Oz says:

That’s only after a couple of weeks on the boat!!?? He’s obviously effected by too much alcohol and choom.

      • GregO says:

These are clearly not people mentally and physically prepared for the challenges presented by raw mother nature. How on earth did these tenderfoots get themselves in this predicament in the first place?

Peanut butter milkshakes? Never heard of them.

    History repeating itself?
RETURN OF THE AURORA. NEWS OF THE MAWSON EXPEDITION.
Captain Davis, when interviewed, said they found that the pack ice had consider- ably increased, and in every instance it extended farther north than when Wilks was there in 1840 and Duville’s expedition, both of which got farther south in every direction before meeting pack than the Aurora did.
The captain of the Aurora said he was satisfied that recession was taking place in the Antarctic, and that permanent ice was constantly being pushed farther and farther out to sea, that there was a greater accumulation of ice, and that it was still going on. He found it out as far as 180 miles from land. It was also apparent that very little melting was going on in summer. He had never seen such a mass of consolidated bergs, and they were of a different character altogether from what were found in Ross Sea. It appeared that they did not melt at all. The conditions down there were generally much more severe on that coast than they used to be, as the Aurora found a heavy vast flow of ice at the end of February, which was the time of the year when it ought to be broken. It, however, did not look is if it were going to break up this year. If the Aurora had got caught in that floe ice she would have had to spend the winter there.
