1978 NOAA Paper Showed Temperatures Falling While CO2 Was Rising

Hansen says that CO2 warming overwhelms natural variability. He might have been holding the paper upside down.

  1. Wow, check out that polar amplification.

    Upside-down… !!!

Great sense of humor on here… Hansen is a total hypocrite… Liar of the first order.

Those hacked climate emails are like something right out of “The Screwtape Letters”. “My dear Wormwood…..

  4. The dCO2/dT is remarkable. I got the same thing during the 1998 El Nino. Mine was 8.3ppm/yr/°C change (the correlation slope). Yes, temperature changes drive that huge a response in the atmospheric CO2 level. This is why a small amount of warming taken over a long time can actually have a very large impact on CO2 levels (and recovery out of the LIA may explain a very large outgassing of CO2 from the oceans). A huge impact on dCO2 with tropical temperature changes is very obvious in the article’s charts. It’s tough to deseasonalize that well to reveal the detail, so the authors did a very nice job. You’ll see that mine is a little more choppy, but mine retains monthly data, not annual.

The similarity to religion continues to strike after all these years.

  6. QV says:

IPCC AR4 “Commitment” scenario suggests that global temperatures are no higher than they would have been had CO2 had not increased since 2000.

That scenario is the only one which has so far been correct, a fact which should be pointed out to all warmists.

  7. Andy DC says:

They had to put the scam on hold during the period 1977-1979, which were by far the 3 coldest consecutive winters in US History. Likewise during the 1980’s, when the orange juice industry moved about 70 miles south due to repeated devastating freezes. But finally during the 1990’s the scam moved forward, because for a few years, it did warm. But even that stopped after 1998.

  8. From the next page (769) in the AMETSOC paper: “There has been a clear tendency for the rate of increase of CO2 at Mauna Loa and the South Pole to be augmented at the time of the temperature maxima associated with this oscillation.”

Translation: CO2 concentration (and/or emission?) goes up when temperature goes up, not the other way around… right?

Which is what Michael D. Smith said above – “A huge impact on dCO2 with tropical temperature changes is very obvious in the article’s charts” – right? (dCO2 meaning delta CO2 meaning change in CO2)

Exactly what I pointed out Monday in my comment on ‘Motherload V’ that said: “Here are a couple other gems from the Angell etal 1978 paper: … Figure 11 is a good one too, as it shows a steady increase in CO2 but a decrease in surface temperature. (p.768)” http://bit.ly/1oecfCd

    Something to think about.

    In Lies We Trust

The world as we know it, is an illusion based on lies and deceit.

If the world seems insane, it’s because it is run by insane people.
Money talks and people can be bought
Jobs at all cost, cost us all.
So stop going along to get along, because it is wrong and it does cost us all.

Ignorance is not bliss, it is how we are all being used and abused.
Blind trust will be humanities undoing.
So stop believing blindly and question everything.

You may think you are free, but really you are only free to conform.
    Truth is knowledge.
    Knowledge is power.
Knowing the truth will set you free.

This world is in a sad state of affairs and needs fixing.
    Talk is cheap.
    Actions speak louder than words.
So grab a cause and get involved.
Be the change you want to see.
