More Statistics For Mental Climate Midgets

The odds of winning the lottery are one in 200 million, yet people win all the time. Does that mean that the world is spiraling out of control?

That is the logic being used by alarmists just about every week – like the 15 inch rain in Florida last week. Their argument is : “100 year rainfalls are happening all the time now

The odds of one particular location getting that much rain are low, but the odds of somewhere on the planet getting that much rain are reasonably good. Climate geniuses scan the planet looking for 100 year rains, and then say they should happen only once every hundred years. Because they have the IQ of a turnip.

    Bit rough on the turnips!

  3. Shazaam says:

The Turnips do have one-up on those sound-bite tweetin’ warmists.

Turnips never say stupid stuff to prove to the world that they do not think.

So yes there is a big chance of rain, storm, and drought. As there is the chance that Big Government, and their big money paymasters, will end up controlling every tiny part of your life so that the guilt-ridden can ‘save the world’at your expense.
That is what will be putting ‘future generations’ in jeopardy.

  5. Andy DC says:

Any localized, slow moving thunderstorm can cause a one in a hundred year rainfall as some spot on the map. Any idiot can see that many places are going to get one in a hundred year rains during any given year, because there a huge number of spots on the map.

  6. Turnips have feelings, too! Vegetable racist!

  7. HankH says:

The problem with 100 year rains (or flood) is it is based on flow rates. Land use practices over time can change flow rates dramatically. What might have been a 100 year rain 100 years ago may now be a 20 or 10 year flood today due to improper channeling of rain in an area that has undergone upslope and / or downslope land development.

Oh, and I feel you’ve dissed turnips rather badly. I’m aghast at the degree of lachanophobia expressed in this post! 😉

    • PJ London says:

Technically the post shows Brassica-Rapaphobia, only the poor Turnip is singled out for abuse. There is no scientific evidence that Turnips have less intellectual capacity than Carrots or Cabbages. I notice that nobody picks on the Turnips close relative, “the Swede”, Rutabagaphobia is almost unheard of.
