Alarmists Facing Triple Whammy In The Arctic This Summer

Arctic ice is thick, air temperatures are running far below normal, and North Atlantic sea surface temperatures are below normal. It doesn’t get much worse than that for people wanting to sea the Arctic melt.

  1. philjourdan says:

But the melting point of ice has been adjusted!

  2. Jason Calley says:

    New CAGW talking point:

“Ice? Bah, the ice is already gone. That is sea foam you are seeing. Thick, continuous, very, very firm sea foam. Just like we predicted…”

  3. Lawrence 13 says:

You’re ‘avin” a graph Steve, its all melting.

  4. Wizzum says:

Steve, someone forgot to check the temperature before posting this chart of sea surface anomaly.

    • Yes you did to forget to check this map

      • Wizzum says:

My point was that the mean temperature graph shows well below normal temperatures for the arctic but NOAA shows a average/higher than average sea surface temperature by their anomaly map, it does not make sense to me. I would have thought that the sea surface would be the ice surface and therefore reflect a colder anomaly rather than a warmer one in the arctic.

This article explains what is done:

          Regime Change in Alaska
          Posted on 9 May 2011 by E.M.Smith

In Hansen’s GIStemp product, we regularly see a map with the entire Arctic colored Blood Red. With “heating anomalies” in the 4 to 10 C range.

It’s a remarkably consistent feature in their graphs….the basic image is one of Siberia and Alaska just melting away to become a new Tropical Paradise.

Yet there are clearly times when the reports of folks who live up there, and of the weathermen on TV, say it’s quite cold.

          So “What’s the deal?”…..

E.M. continues with a nice analysis of how they manage to make the Arctic red hot.

While I was scrounging around looking for that article I ran across a few other old articles woth reading:

Adjustments to the Sea Surface Temperature set done in the revision to HADsst3 – OUCH!

CRU, NCDC, and GISS not Scientific: It’s a definition thing…

OH, and just to make things even more interesting it seems the Chinese Military had hacked into the satellites, used for earth climate and terrain observation.. back in 2011.

        • NOAA shows ice covered water as having an above normal SST. Complete nonsense.

        • Gail Combs says:

That is the smear from human inhabited land based stations to all over the Arctic. I am sure GISS is very careful as to which station they use too. (The warmer the better.)

      • emsnews says:

For the last 2 years!!! the Gulf of Mexico has been much colder than normal. No hurricanes can survive there.

  5. Anthony S says:

Re Great lakes ice, it is officially gone now, but who thinks that icebergs/pressure ridges like this one would have melted in a week sitting in <40F water?

  6. D. Self says:

    Ruh! Roh!

  7. Over at Huff Po they’re linking everything to Climate Change… every flood, drought, World Cup in Brazil hotter than ever… Pakistan floods due to extra CO2…

Every Weather event no matter how normal across the Globe on a Yearly basis is now attributed to Climate Change… they just don’t stop…

  8. Latitude says:

North Atlantic sea surface temperatures are below normal..and that’s all folks
