The usual team of climate liars claims that Greenland is melting down and its glaciers are shrinking. We know that the surface is gaining huge amounts of ice
But what about the glaciers? In 2010 they got hysterical about an iceberg calving off the Petermann Glacier in Greenland. The next animation shows that the glacier grew about 3km from the calving event in September 2010 to September 2014. The tip of the red arrow shows the location of the glacier terminus in 2010. Most of the ice which broke of in 2010 has grown back.
It is all Bush’s fault that the Petermann glacier calved.
Is your 2010 picture labelled as 2014 and vice versa?
To go with your wording, the 2010 picture should show less ice (smaller glacier) in the fjord
No. Look at the glacier terminus. The tip of the red arrow,
Just trying to be helpful
OK, I see the point. Thanks for the clarification.
In fact, the cusped shape where the iceberg calved (near the tip of the arrow in 2010) is still visible in the 2014 picture, just further downstream.
So why aren’t the warmists having a fit about the massive amounts of fresh water being dumped into the ocean by… the Mississippi River? Just because Petermann is many orders of magnitude slower than the Mighty Miss’ doesn’t make its flow any less natural. I just do not understand these people. For folks that profess to love and care for Nature they sure don’t have much of a clue as to how she works.
If you understand that the ‘environment’ was picked as a useful tool to advance a totalitarian planetwide system of global governance then it become obvious the eco-nuts are not really concerned about the enviornment what they are actually interested in is getting your buy-in to their RIGHT (in the name of the environment) to control YOU.
Pascal Lamy, a French socialist who was two term Director-general of the World Trade Organization, makes that hidden agenda clear:
That …. the Westphalian, sacrosanct principle of sovereignty… refers to the supremacy of the US Constitution over any treaty. The obvious goal is to take decision making OUT of local hands and place it into global hands. Going back to the 1930s you can see the beginnings of this in FDR’s New Deal and the Supreme Court trashing the Constitution when they twisted the Commerce Clause out of all recognition. link
Lamy also makes it clear that the nations that joined the EU LOST their national sovereignty and are now nothing more than vassal states of the EU sort of like Maryland is a vassal state and not an independent country.
I pound on this point because we all have to understand where the actual fight is to counter it. And the fight is about whether the USA will remain a sovereign republic or whether it will be come a vassal state of the UN/WTO with it’s wealth “redistributed”.
Clinton in signing the WTO and then transferring US patents/technology to China did a whole hell of a lot in ‘helping’ the socialist wealth “redistribution’ plans and thereby created the economic havoc we now are experiencing. He also removed a healthy chunk of US sovereignty.
Straight from the FDA although they later removed the page.
BTW, this blurb, at the time it was written was a complete LIE!
This was why the Food Modernization Act was so very important to the internationalists. They HAD TO slip in this clause to give control of the US food system to the internationals. Everything else was fluff. This is the clause that mattered.
All the news paper hype about food safety and e-coli was just window dressing.
One USDA official even mentioned the international court during the fight over NAIS – Animal ID. (sorry cant find the exact quote)
Following a request by OIE International Committee, and to further develop collaboration with the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), a permanent ‘OIE Working Group on Animal Production Food Safety’ was established in 2002. The draft guide to good farming practices has been produced by this Working Group. There are also good agricultural practices written by the international group and now showing up as the “guidelines” published by AG universities and state agencies here in the USA.
Note also the elitist’s chimeric references to ‘sustainable’, a sustainable planet” what can that mean?
On this planet we are not devine beings therefore nothing we do is sustainable. Anything we want is not sustainable as we do not know the full history, or the controls on all the variables for our needs, wants, and desires. This planet and nature does not need or require us humans, we require it, and as such we are a product of this planet’s natural order.
IMO sustainable should mean to do things in the least damaging way, and to the benefit to the most, and detrement of the least. Instead ‘sustainable’ is used, all too often, as a cloak for elitist profiteering through collectivisation and cronie capitalism to the detrement of many.
“Sustainable” means “too damned many people on Planet Earth.” None dare mention a genocidal conspiracy afoot to murder seven billion human beings in order to achieve “stable, sustainable human population.”
How would the few hundred million remnant humans dispose of seven billion corpses?
And the Malthusian elites would have us eat each other than cede any power.
The Progressives have been laying the groundwork for a century. We’ve got federal judges citing law from other countries in holdings. The current regime doesn’t appear to understand that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Even if they did the feds have ignored its limitations for long enough that no one in federal office even believes there are limits. They’ve used every tool in the propagandist’s bag to glom government solutions on to every “humanitarian” issue they can find.
useful idiotstrue believers in the eco and warmist movements have enabled wholesale destruction of State’s rights and individual rights. They truly believe that mankind has the ability to destroy this planet… it’s ludicrous. We could have a nuclear war tomorrow, kill every single human on the planet and in 5 or 10 thousand years you would never know we had been here. There would be some shards of engraved granite and some large chucks of dam concrete in the terminal moraines of the next set of ice sheets. Just another failed species that only lasted 30 thousand years.
Truth is the only thing that has a chance of stopping them. Can you imagine where we’d be if we didn’t have the Internet to get around their gatekeepers?
Ah hell. We may see a flash and that would be the last image we ever saw in the event of a gamma ray burst. We as a species may have the warning a deer in the headlights at close range gets. Species come and go as our planet goes through it’s own cycles of geologic activity and the universe has it’s say in what will and will not exist. Anyone that had a brain would be more concerned about NEO’s and comets and the things that may be within the realm of our ability to influence than the bogyman of “climate change”.
“…Can you imagine where we’d be if we didn’t have the Internet to get around their gatekeepers?”
Easily, and it scared the living daylight out of me that I can say: Confined in my 15ft X 15ft Mini-Prison Micro-Apartment (the smallest being built are 150 square feet of living space — 220 when you add the bathroom, kitchen and closet ) in a Transit village eating what food is available from the local Food Shed.
Rosa Koire is “[a] former District Branch Chief for the California Department of Transportation, her twenty-eight year career in litigation support on land use has culminated in exposing the impacts of Sustainable Development on private property rights and individual liberty.
In 2005 she was elected to a citizens’ oversight committee in Santa Rosa, Northern California, to review a proposed 1,300 acre redevelopment project in which 10,000 people live and work. Her research into the documents justifying the plans led her, with her partner Kay Tokerud, to challenge the fraudulent basis for the huge Gateways Redevelopment Project. The City, in an attempt to block Koire from exposing the project, removed the neighborhood in which Koire and Tokerud’s properties were located from the redevelopment area.
Koire and Tokerud fought on, however, not wanting to abandon the thousands of business and property owners still in the area. They formed a business and property owners association and a non-profit organization (Concerned Citizens of Santa Rosa Against Redevelopment Law Abuse) and were able to raise nearly $500,000 in donations and pro bono legal work to sue the City of Santa Rosa to stop the project. The court case, Tokerud v. City of Santa Rosa, lost in Superior Court but the court ruled that they could continue, and they appealed to the San Francisco First District Court of Appeals where they lost again in 2009. The three years of litigation fighting eminent domain and the redevelopment project succeeded in delaying the project while the economy collapsed–the City has failed to implement its plans, but still has the power of eminent domain over the 1,100 acre area until 2018.
Over the course of the legal challenge Koire became aware of the source of the planning revolution she had observed over more than 10 years: UN Agenda 21. Through her research she found that much of the funding to implement local UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development land use programs comes through the diversion of property taxes to redevelopment agencies.…” – (wwwDOT)postsustainabilityinstitute.org/board-of-directors.html
It is really getting bad when a Flaming Liberal California Bureaucrat can see what is happening and understands there is a rabid wolf hiding under that socialist sheepskin.
Now we know what the politicians have been sweeping under the sheepskin rug all these years.
Man if winters get much tougher that fresh water will be cut down considerably. Or at least it some of it will flow into the Gulf as ice. http://www.sciencefacts.us/1899-when-the-mississippi-river-entirely-froze/
This has been going the rounds recently on military sites, good for looking at the ice too though from our point of view Steve.
Nice to watch on a Sunday.
Oh but Andy, did you watch this video that popped up afterward? …
Ooooohhh, Scaaaarrryyyy stuff … Particularly amusing are many of the comments on the posting. My lord there are a lot of very stupid people roaming this planet.
YouTube seems to attract comment from many people who are both ignorant and don’t care who knows it.
“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.” ~ Mark Twain
I also see a lot more snow on the ground/mountains in 2014 than 2010.
OT: Good news from the Midwest. Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are now at normal levels…
40% of how many Cm? 4-6 cm /yr max? I saw that calving in 1956 when Disney filmed it.
History repeated. The island was called “Greenland” as part of a real-estate scam back in the 10th Century: “It was the early Scandinavian settlers who gave the country the name Greenland. In the Icelandic sagas, it is said that the Norwegian-born Icelander Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland for manslaughter. Along with his extended family and his thralls, he set out in ships to explore icy land known to lie to the northwest. After finding a habitable area and settling there, he named it Grœnland (translated as “Greenland”), supposedly in the hope that the pleasant name would attract settlers.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenland
Good to know that the Global Warming conspiracy isn’t too proud to steal ideas. Greenland is becoming green! Next, buy shares of the Brooklyn Bridge!
As Oliver Hardy once said, “Buying that bridge was no mistake. That’s going to be worth a lot of money to us some day.” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029747/quotes?item=qt0329693
Is your image the 2010 calving or the 2012? I remember the BBC’s childrens news program Newsround reporting the latter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/18898163
They didn’t have these satellite images on the TV – just an animation showing the bottom half of Greenland breaking away and heading towards the UK. It covered half the distance in about 3 seconds — I make that 20,000mph
