Fast forward to 2015 – and now we have NBC news reader Brian Williams apparently caught in a similar big lie…

  2. Jason Calley says:

Sociopaths lie — no remorse, no guilt, no self recrimination. Sociopaths who are addicted to power not only lie with no remorse, they lie automatically, reflexively. Why? Because knowledge is power. No sociopath who is addicted to power will ever willingly give any power away.

These people are insane. The are not just metaphorically or rhetorically insane. They are bats$#t crazy, but have learned how to pass for normal.

I just painted Drewski into a corner at another site and instead of disappearing like any rational fool, he doubled down and proved what a monumental liar he is. And now I have documentation! 😆

I guess when leftists see their idols incessantly lie successfully, it emboldens them, and they forget they have no press in the pocket to camouflage their BS.

  4. scp says:

Interesting that Cheryl Atkisson was the reporter who exposed this. Yet another reason for the Justice Department to hack her computer and for CBS to fire her.

  5. gator69 says:

WASHINGTON — NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams admitted Wednesday he was not aboard a helicopter hit and forced down by RPG fire during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a false claim that has been repeated by the network for years.

Williams repeated the claim Friday during NBC’s coverage of a public tribute at a New York Rangers hockey game for a retired soldier that had provided ground security for the grounded helicopters, a game to which Williams accompanied him. In an interview with Stars and Stripes, he said he had misremembered the events and was sorry.

If you cannot even accurately report firsthand events, why would I believe anything else you have to say.

    • Gail Combs says:

HOW in HE!! can you ‘misremembered’ an event that scared the crap out of you?

That BS would only fly for those who have been completely wrapped in bubble wrap and whose days are an endless sea of gray.

  6. SMS says:

Lets not forget Dan Rather’s attempt to slander President Bush. Powerlineblog has an interesting post on this subject. “Rather Insane”

  7. Fallon says:

“In his contribution to the famous 1949 collection of essays by ex-Communists titled The God That Failed, Arthur Koestler carefully illustrates how set language binds thought to ideology at the expense of evidence. Koestler, author of the unparalleled novel of Stalin’s show trials, Darkness at Noon, describes a conversation he had early in his Communist career with “Edgar,” his Party contact, in which they discuss the front page of a Communist newspaper.

“But every word on the front page is contradicted by the facts,” I objected. Edgar gave me a tolerant smile. “You still have the mechanistic outlook, he said, and then proceeded to give me the dialectical interpretation of the facts . . .

Gradually, I learned to distrust my mechanistic preoccupation with facts and to regard the world around me in the light of dialectical interpretation. It was a satisfactory and indeed blissful state; once you had assimilated the technique, you were no longer disturbed by the facts [emphasis added].

Here, recounting his experience as a German Communist in the 1930s, Koestler is nonetheless describing the post-Communist, postmodern, post-9/11 American condition. ”

  8. John Greenfraud says:

Imaginary warming — imaginary sniper and RPG fire — imaginary apocalypse. What difference does it make? To lie, cheat, and steal for the greater good is a noble thing, right? And having a government licence to lie, cheat and steal is even better. Of course, you’ll have to excuse the rest of us for defining you in the simplest terms, i.e., as liars, cheats and thieves.

  9. Their ideology forgives them from telling the truth because the end game is more important than being truthful and honest.

  10. Neal S says:

Perhaps this is a similarity between the warmists and islamists …. they both practice taqiyya. But I question the mental state of those who have been telling and believing lies for so long that they can no longer even admit reality when it smacks them in the face. These are the folk who would pass a lie detector test, because for them, it is no longer lying.

  11. Smokey says:

If Williams lies about one thing, he will lie about anything. Won’t he?

People don’t lie for money, they don’t lie for ambition, they don’t lie to avoid trouble, etc. People lie for one reason: Because they are liars It’s a character thing. Williams doesn’t have any. Neither did Dan Rather.

Organizations can make it worse. Good ones might give someone a second chance. But if they do, the liar must do penance. Williams really should go. But if they keep him around, it will be seen as a reward for lying if he isn’t reassigned via a demotion. Leaving him in his position is tacit approval.

There are plenty of capable, honest people waiting in the wings. Giving one of them a chance would go a long way toward improving NBC’s reputation. Will they do the right thing? Or not?

    Stay tuned… or not.
