Fossil Fuels Keeping More Than 200 Million Americans From Freezing Today

ScreenHunter_7361 Feb. 22 09.05

The US is experiencing an historic deep-freeze with much of the country more than 20 degrees below normal. Most of the people in America would be freezing right now without fossil fuels.

The government responds by lying about the temperature, trying to make energy prices skyrocket, and doing everything they can to cut off the supply of fossil fuels.

I believe we have established without a doubt that the left considers humanity to be a cancer. Nothing would make the left happier than freezing millions of Americans to death, especially in flyover country.

    • Billy Liar says:

No, no, no. The left are the cancer; they build ever expanding bureaucracies with an insatiable thirst for Other People’s Money.

73% of US energy is fossil fuel based.

Last night on my NY mountain it was extremely windy, the wind howled. Snow drifts piled all over the place. It was below zero and even though my house is very secure, the insidious cold still crept into the house in every tiny crack and I spent the night dealing with this. It was very cold.

Now the wind stopped and it is more comfortable. I heat only with wood and coal so I notice these sorts of things since I have to tend the fire more carefully when we have 50 mph and higher winds.

  4. nickreality65 says:

Oops, silly me. Make that 81%.

    Energy Flow Origins, EIA
    Quadrillion (E15) Btu, 2013
    Coal 19.99 18.3%
    NG 24.89 22.8%
    Crude 15.77 14.4%
    NGPL 3.47 3.2%
    Nuclear 8.27 7.6%
    Renewable 9.30 8.5%
    Petroleum Imports 21.09 19.3%
    Other Imports 3.45 3.2%
Stock Change and Other 3.12 2.9%
    Total 109.35

    88.66 81%

Carbon free? Good luck with that!

    • Gail Combs says:

“Carbon free? Good luck with that!”

Easy, peasy especially since the goal is not carbon free but a 83% reduction in the US carbon footprint.

“A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.” – Ted Turner, founder of CNN and major UN donor

Tim Wirth the Senator who colluded with Hansen to dupe the US Congress and trick them into signing the UN Convention on Climate Changes now is president of Turners UN Foundation.

This is the SAME Tim Wirth that said: “We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.” from his Dossier

One wonders exactly WHAT economic and environmental policy Wirth has in mind. Governments are well known for killing off their own people, often by the millions and the US government is certainly not exempt from the charge.

        • Gail Combs says:

Isn’t it amazing how they all sing from the same hymnal as long as it is the ordinary serf citizen that is going to be reduced to a life that is nasty, brutal and short?

What is even more amazing is the number of brain dead westerners who are stuffing themselves with food while cursing farmers and warming themselves via hydrocarbons while cursing the energy companies.

It may be historic, but it only matters if it is unprecedented/sarc.

  6. Steve Case says:

I’m in Furnace Creek, Death Valley – California at the moment, so I don’t need no stinkin’ fossil fuel.

    • Hugh K says:

Obama is proof our system of checks and balances does not work and that our political system is fool-proof.

  8. zgarcila says:

Yes, fossil fuels are still a resonable source of heat and energy in many areas of the U.S. but slowly we need to understand that renewables are the solution for the future.
In the meantime, if the ban on the U.S. crude oil exports will be removed, we can see a broader economic growth in the U.S. becuase the EU needs this fossil fuel in order to get rid of the Russian energy supplies.

The U.S. can be the perfect supplier for cheap oil in Canada and in the EU zone.

  9. we set another record low this morning’ -24F (previous record was -12F); wonder how cold it would be without man-made global warming?

  10. Climate appears to have migrated to Yuma, Arizona this week.

  11. rah says:

Sure isn’t in northern Texas. Both I-30 and I-35 closed due to ice yesterday. From I-30 on down a snow flake means Armageddon is near.
