  1. To protest the ice melt, I am doing a hunger strike on behalf of the polar bears. I refuse to eat a baby walrus or touch a harp seal until big oil stops production of all fossil fuels, or until a satisfactory cap and trade law is imposed on the evil electric company.

97% of scientist say the Arctic will have Zero Ice in 6 weeks time 😛

I love their “Science”. And your a baby hating moon landing racist holocaust denier if you don’t agree

How can write such nonsense! Ice miraculously disappear?

    • AndyG55 says:

Didn’t 2014 have the shortest time above 0ºC in the whole of the DMI record ?

      • Dmh says:

2013 was colder for a longer time, specially in the first 9 months. That and the lucky position of the remaining ice in September 2013 were, IMO, the reasons why the Arctic ice recovered so spectacularly from 2012.

I never knew we produced so much food on the Arctic ice! Well then, we better equip those combines with pontoons, and get water wings for the cattle.

Dr. Ahmed was rudely dropped from the Guardian team last year, although not for writing the above article. He fell foul of the hierarchy there by overstepping his “environmental” remit in covering the Israel/Palestine dispute over the gas fields off the coast of Gaza.

And who is going to hold them to this grossly distorted statement when it doesn’t happen newt summer?
    No one.

  11. smamarver says:

Well, that’s kind of extreme….. First of all, I think that it’s important to understand what lead to the warming phenomenon in the Arctic region. It seems that the Polar Area remains a hot issue: http://www.arctic-warming.com/?page_id=14. Anyway, the information I’ve read on this site seem to be well documented and trustworthy.

  12. Michael 2 says:

I regret that I don’t exactly understand why an ice free arctic is a bad thing over which I require a “warning”.

    • Jack says:

Michael, the melting of the greenland ice-sheets and the warming of the arctic are truly concerning. Yes, we all know that the melting of the ice sheets will contribute to global sea level rise. Which is concerning, when you consider it will be a global rise in roughly 21 ft. Low lying coastal areas like Bangladesh, NYC, and the florida coasts will have to adapt their coastlines to prevent against massive flooding. What is more concerning about the warming of the arctic is this; the warming of the arctic will not only melt ice sheets, but it is already melting methane permafrost and methane hydrates in the oceans. Methane gas traps 100 times more heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide in a 5 year period. It is estimated that we are already heading for a 4 degree centigrade rise in global temperatures. Plants and animals will not be able adapt to such rapidly changing climates, unfortunately, if the plants die and the animals die… we die. Very concerning, I hope this helped!! Best wishes Michael

A peer-reviewed paper published in the Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences finds that Arctic sea ice extent at the end of the 20th century was more extensive than most of the past 9000 years. The paper also finds that Arctic sea ice extent was on a declining trend over the past 9000 years, but recovered beginning sometime over the past 1000 years and has been relatively stable and extensive since.

So nothing unusual about Arctic ice.

Sea level? Let’s ask the world’s leading expert…

The reason why Dr Mörner, formerly a Stockholm professor, is so certain that these claims about sea level rise are 100 per cent wrong is that they are all based on computer model predictions, whereas his findings are based on “going into the field to observe what is actually happening in the real world”.

When running the International Commission on Sea Level Change, he launched a special project on the Maldives, whose leaders have for 20 years been calling for vast sums of international aid to stave off disaster. Six times he and his expert team visited the islands, to confirm that the sea has not risen for half a century. Before announcing his findings, he offered to show the inhabitants a film explaining why they had nothing to worry about. The government refused to let it be shown.

Similarly in Tuvalu, where local leaders have been calling for the inhabitants to be evacuated for 20 years, the sea has if anything dropped in recent decades. The only evidence the scaremongers can cite is based on the fact that extracting groundwater for pineapple growing has allowed seawater to seep in to replace it. Meanwhile, Venice has been sinking rather than the Adriatic rising, says Dr Mörner.

One of his most shocking discoveries was why the IPCC has been able to show sea levels rising by 2.3mm a year. Until 2003, even its own satellite-based evidence showed no upward trend. But suddenly the graph tilted upwards because the IPCC’s favoured experts had drawn on the finding of a single tide-gauge in Hong Kong harbour showing a 2.3mm rise. The entire global sea-level projection was then adjusted upwards by a “corrective factor” of 2.3mm, because, as the IPCC scientists admitted, they “needed to show a trend”.

When I spoke to Dr Mörner last week, he expressed his continuing dismay at how the IPCC has fed the scare on this crucial issue. When asked to act as an “expert reviewer” on the IPCC’s last two reports, he was “astonished to find that not one of their 22 contributing authors on sea levels was a sea level specialist: not one”. Yet the results of all this “deliberate ignorance” and reliance on rigged computer models have become the most powerful single driver of the entire warmist hysteria.

        And Dr Mörner’s bio…

Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner has worked with sea level problems for 40 years in areas scattered all over the globe. As head of the unit of Paleogeophysics & Geodynamics at Stockholm University, he worked with many different geological-geophysical problems. He organized two major international conferences; one on “Earth Rheology, Isostasy and Eustasy” in 1977, and one on “Climatic Changes on a Yearly to Millennial Basis” in 1983. He has run several international field excursions through Sweden. He was President of the INQUA Commission on Neotectonics (1981-1989) and President of the INQUA Commission on Sea Level Changes and Coastal Evolution (1999-2003). He headed the INTAS Project on Geomagnetism and Climate (1997- 2003). In 2000, he launched an international sea level research project in the Maldives.

Dr. Morner has written 546 scientific papers, and 10 books. Among his numerous publications, one may note the studies on: the interaction among isostasy and eustasy, the oscillating regional eustatic curve of NW Europe, the changing geoid concept, the redefinition of the concept of eustasy, the dynamic-rotational redistribution of oceanic water masses, the interchange of angular momentum between the hydrosphere and solid Earth, and finally the new sea level curve of the Maldives with an absence of signs of any on-going sea level rise.

In 2008 he was awarded “The Golden Condrite of Merit” from University of Algarve (at an international sea level meeting in Portugal) “for his irreverence and contribution to our understanding of sea-level change”

Given your “facts” are not so, go feed some hungry kids, and quit listening to those dependent upon the multi-trillion dollar Climate Change Industry.

I was involved in an argument today with a ‘snake handler’ type of global warming advocate. Had my computer right there and on the Real Science site. She just closed her eyes and refused to look at the Arctic pics, then said they must be wrong because ‘the Northwest Passage is wide open. Then she brought up the 63 degree ‘Esperanza’ ? blip last week. I replied the Dome temp was -103 F and she replied, ‘It should be’. She lives in Eaton, CO slightly east of Ft. Collins and said, ” The fires have already started”. I deal with people like this all of the time any more and I will argue back. Just getting a hair cut is an ordeal since obewon took over.
