    A classic summary!

    Cheers ….

  2. Marsh says:

The Wheel Of Climate Change is no joke ; something like this analogy probably exists for real… Others, on the throw of Dice or taking from a deck of cards ; also to be done, dishonestly.!
Alarmists probably just have an “app” that highlights Hot events & excludes anything Cool.

  3. Andy DC says:

It appears that the warm winter weather is over, with plenty of cold and snow on the horizon.

  4. Dave N says:

It’s because the warming stopped: they had to start thinking of other excuses to scare people. When everything is an excuse, there’s less need to talk about temperature.

    • That is only true in the wingnut alternet universe

      • BruceC says:

        You mean like these wingnuts?

”We need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination… So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts… Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.”
        Stephen Schneider,
        Stanford Professor of Climatology,
Lead author of many IPCC reports

”Unless we announce disasters no one will listen.”
        Sir John Houghton,
        First chairman of the IPCC

”It doesn’t matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.”
        Paul Watson
        Greenpeace

”We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.”
        Timothy Wirth,
        President of the UN Foundation

”No matter if the science of global warming is all phony… climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.”
        Christine Stewart,
former Canadian Minister of the Environment

”The only way to get our society to truly change is to frighten people with the possibility of a catastrophe.”
        Emeritus Professor Daniel Botkin

        • I see you committed the troll’s equivalent of drive by shooting
Patrick Moore is a pompous ignoramus who has been on the climate science denial gravy train for years.

        • gator69 says:

Environmental historian Frank Zelko dates the formation of the “Don’t Make a Wave Committee” to 1969 and according to Jim Bohlen the group adopted the name “Don’t Make a Wave Committee” on 28 November 1969.[31] According to the Greenpeace web site, The Don’t Make a Wave Committee was established in 1970.[32] Certificate of incorporation of The Don’t Make a Wave Committee dates the incorporation to the fifth of October, 1970.[33] Researcher Vanessa Timmer dates the official incorporation to 1971.[34] Greenpeace itself calls the protest voyage of 1971 as “the beginning”.[35] According to Patrick Moore, who was an early member but has since distanced himself from Greenpeace, and Rex Weyler, the name of “The Don’t Make a Wave Committee” was officially changed to Greenpeace Foundation in 1972.[33][36] Because of the early phases spanning several years, there are differing views on who can be called the founders of Greenpeace…

Because Patrick Moore was among the crew of the first protest voyage and the beginning of the journey is often referred as the birthday of Greenpeace, Moore also considers himself one of the founders.[33] Greenpeace used to list Moore among “founders and first members” of but has later stated that while Moore was a significant early member, he was not among the founders of Greenpeace in 1970.

Yes, hippies rewrite history whenever it suits them.

        • BruceC says:

          Who mentioned Patrick Moore?

        • Gail Combs says:

Typical of a Warmist troll set up a strawman (Patrick Moore who was never even eluded to) and then take potshots.

Interesting that Patrick Moore is a Canadian scientist (. Ph.D. in Ecology) He co-founded Greenpeace and was president for 15 years. He was one of the few in the early Greenpeace movement to actually have a scientific background.

Actually I like many ‘Deniers’ were also members of Greenpeace in the early years when there really was a major pollution and Greenpeace was doing something useful. That is until Maurice Strong 1972 First Earth Summit and the Elites took Greenpeace and other activist groups over by attaching financial strings. The various Rockefeller foundations (Standard Oil Money) for example are major contributors to Greenpeace.

The Commission on Global Governance (CGG), was established in 1992, after Rio, at the suggestion of Willy Brandt, former West German chancellor and head of the Socialist International. In 1991, the Club of Rome (of which Strong is, of course, a member) issued a report called The First Global Revolution, which asserted that current problems “are essentially global and cannot be solved through individual country initiatives.

“Very few of even the larger international NGOs are operationally democratic, in the sense that members elect officers or direct policy on particular issues,” notes Peter Spiro. “Arguably it is more often money than membership that determines influence, and money more often represents the support of centralized elites, such as major foundations, than of the grass roots.” The CGG has benefited substantially from the largesse of the MacArthur, Carnegie, and Ford Foundations. http://www.afn.org/~govern/strong.html

          <b.The Rockefeller/Maurice Strong connection
Maurice Strong worked in Saudi Arabia for a Rockefeller company, Caltex, in1953 He left Caltex in 1954 and to worked at high levels in banking and oil. By 1971, he served as a trustee for the Rockefeller Foundation, and in 1972 was Secretary-General of the U.N. Conference on the Human Environment,. He was Co-founder of the WWF and Senior Advisor to the World Bank and the UN, not bad for someone who was a dirt poor high school drop out in 1947. Given Shell Oil’s major role in the Global Warming Scam, it is interesting to note Maurice Strong, while at Power Corporation, enabled Shell to take over the only remaining all-Canadian oil company by throwing a controlling block of shares in its direction.

          Paul Watson

Go back upstream and look you idiot.
          >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Watson was also one of the co-founders of the Greenpeace that Greenpeace is now trying to erase from its history.

Another Greenpeace co-founder and the first President of Greenpeace Robert Hunter flew to Amsterdam to hold a press conference to correct Greenpeace and to say that Captain Paul Watson in fact was one of the original Greenpeace founders.

        • BruceC says:

I believe Lawrence is having a shot at me for putting Sou from Budgerigar in her place and telling her the TRUE history on the formation of GreenPeace.

For what its worth (copy & paste from MY original comments @ HotWhopper), the formation of the Greenpeace Foundation was registered on May 4, 1972, at The Provincial Societies office in Victoria, British Columbia. Prior to that the only reference to Greenpeace is the nick-name of the vessel/voyage of the Phyllis Cormack which was an anti-nuclear protest. That voyage in 1971 was organized and funded by the Don’t Make A Wave Committee. Moore was not only on that voyage, in 1971, he, Jim Bohlen and Paul Cotes inspected the Phyllis Cormack at the Fraser River docks to see if it was sea-worthy enough for the planned voyage.

Chronology, the Founding of Greenpeace (from Rex Weyler’s —- Greenpeace, an insider’s account. How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists and Visionaries Changed the World):

March 1970: Paul Cote met Captain John Cormack, 60, on a Fraser River dock, and Cormack agreed to use his fishing boat, the Phyllis Cormack, for the voyage. The boat was renamed “Greenpeace” for the campaign.

October 5, 1970: Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Phil Ochs, and BC band Chilliwack staged a benefit concert in Vancouver for the Don’t Make a Wave Committee, which raised $17,000. Thereafter, the Sierra Club and Quaker groups in the US contributed funding to the campaign.

1971: Hunter, Metcalfe, Bohlen, Darnell, and Simmons formed the activist core of the boat crew. Underground journalist Bob Cummings, ecologist Patrick Moore, engineer Dave Birmingham, medical doctor Lyle Thurston, and photographer Robert Keziere joined them. When Marie Bohlen decided to stay ashore, Lou Hogan and Rod Marining stood next on the waiting list. Marining deferred to Hogan, believing that a woman should be on the boat, as did Hunter and Metcalfe. In the end, Richard Fineberg, who had met Bohlen in Alaska, joined the crew instead of Hogan. Marining later met the boat in Kodiak in October 1971 and replaced Fineberg on the crew.

September 15, 1971: the Phyllis Cormack, rechristened ‘Greenpeace’ for the voyage, departed Vancouver.

October 29, 1971: On the way back to Vancouver, Hunter and Metcalfe proposed that upon their return, they should reconstitute the organization as the “Greenpeace Foundation.” Hunter borrowed the term “Foundation” from Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy.

November 1, 1971: Jim Bohlen, Irving Stowe, and Paul Cote met to wrap up the Don’t Make a Wave Committee. They decided that Hunter should set up Greenpeace Foundation as a separate organization, but this isn’t what happened. The Don’t Make a Wave Committee had legal standing and a surplus of funds, so upon reflection, it seemed counterproductive to start over. Ben Metcalfe brokered a deal to keep the organization in tact and turn its attention on French nuclear testing in the South Pacific.

January 1972: Metcalfe organized a protest against Canadian Fisheries Minister Jack Davis and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mitchell Sharp. Davis had attempted to stall boat insurance for the Phyllis Cormack, and Metcalfe wanted to force Sharp to put nuclear testing on the agenda of the United Nations Environment Conference to be held in Stockholm that summer. Ben and Dorothy Metcalfe, the Stowes, Bohlens, Hunter, Thurston, Moore, and Keziere went to a Liberal Party brunch, where they confronted Davis and Sharp. After the event, they returned to the Metcalfe’s’ home and proclaimed themselves “The World Greenpeace Foundation” with Ben Metcalfe as chairman.

January 21, 1972: The Don’t Make a Wave Committee resolved to change its name to the “Greenpeace Foundation,” and turned over $9,678 to Dorothy and Ben Metcalfe.

May 4, 1972: The Provincial Societies office in Victoria, British Columbia registered the name, “Greenpeace Foundation.”

BTW Lawrence, have YOU read either of the books, Rex Weyler’s —- Greenpeace, an insider’s account. How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists and Visionaries Changed the World and also Bob Hunter’s — Warriors of the Rainbow?

You should …… you might learn something!

        • BruceC says:

BTW Lawence, Patrick Moore was present at The Provincial Societies office in Victoria, British Columbia when they registered the name, “Greenpeace Foundation.”

In your link above Lawrence (HotWhopper), Sou links to a Greg Laden article written on 27th June 2014,

          http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/2014/06/27/who-founded-greenpeace-not-patrick-moore/

At comment #28 (July 1st, a month BEFORE Sou’s blog), I step in and correct Laden’s BS, my last comment was #67, July 14th – 14 days later – nowhere near being a troll’s equivalent of [a] drive by shooting

What’s even more interesting Lawry, un-be-known to me (until today) was that that discussion has continued on (last comment Dec 28, 2015). Re-reading the comments from that 2014 blog post, who should show up on June 7, 2015 (almost a year later), none other than Paul Watson, comment #103:

As much as I detest Moore for selling out as a corporate whore, I have to defend the position that he was indeed a Greenpeace founder. Greenpeace was officially founded in 1972. Moore sailed on the Greenpeace in October 1971. I sailed on the Greenpeace Too in November 1971. Both Moore and I were founding directors of the Greenpeace Foundation in 1972. Prior to that there was the Don’t Make a Wave Committee formed in 1969 of which both Patrick Moore and I were members. Greenpeace often cites the three founding members as Paul Cote, Jim Bohlen and Irving Stowe. Only Jim Bohlen was a crewmember. Cote was simply the lawyer who filed the papers. The original founding directors of the Greenpeace Foundation were Bob Hunter, Bobbi Hunter, Hamish Bruce, Rod Marining, Jim Bohlen, Patrick Moore, John Cormack, Jim Bohlen, Chris Bergthorsen, Irving Stowe, Dorthy Stowe, Will Jones, Ben Metcalfe, Bob Cummings etc. McTaggart was hired for Mururoa in 1972.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave

        • AndyG55 says:

Patrick Moore is not an ignoramus.

Far from it.. that is why his comments HURT the AGW scammers so, so much.

Moore has retained his respectability, while the others have dropped into the cesspool that is the AGW fraud.

Lawrence, on the other hand, redefines low-end, anti-intelligence, AGW drones, as a non-entity with zero knowledge about anything.

Funding is something like 1000+ to 1, AGW scammers to realists.

Everyone knows where the REAL gravy train is, its just a matter of if so-called climate scientists have the self-morality to resist it and remain as impartial scientists or turn into propaganda monkeys.

      Greg Laden
      June 29, 2014

The committee’s founders AND FIRST MEMBERS included.

I’m thinking they decided to get more specific in their definition of “founder” when Moore became a dickhead. Their right.

We wouldn’t be having this conversation if Patrick Moore had not turned against the planet and society.

      • AndyG55 says:

It is very much obvious that Patrick Moore HAS NOT turned against the planet and society.

Greenpeace, on the other hand, are proving to be a pariah to both humans and the environment.

      • AndyG55 says:

And here is that very same Patrick Moore telling how it REALLY is with CO2 and the oceans.

        PURELY AND ABSOLUTELY BENEFICIAL.
