Alarmist Brains Depleted Of Oxygen

Latest story is that global warming will deplete the oceans of oxygen.

Global warming could deplete the oceans’ oxygen – with severe consequences – The Washington Post

Corals and shellfish evolved in the Cambrian Era with CO2 10-20X higher than today, and temperatures 15C higher than today. Obviously warm water is not a problem for sea life.

People go to the Caribbean to snorkel and see the wide diversity of sea life – because the water is warm.

  1. RAH says:

I think the better question would be ‘How stupid do they think those that read their stuff are?’
Seems to me that I recall that it was simple plant life like algae growing in tropical waters that produced the oxygen that made both marine and terrestrial higher order animal life as we know it possible in the first place and in fact is still the major contributor to O2 in the atmosphere today. And algae blooms require warm water and good sunlight among other things. Or is this truck driver wrong?

    • That’s a very good question, RAH, but don’t discount Tony’s premise out of hand. Science made great advances in the last 10 years and our observations are broadly consistent with the oxygen depletion hypothesis:

Just like bowel movement or bladder function, the automatic impulses documented below are probably directed by Bill Nye’s spinal cord and bypass his presumably oxygen-depleted brain completely:

“The main thing is, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change got a Nobel Prize! They got a scientific prize for making a discovery! They didn’t get a minor award. This is a big deal! They discovered climate change, through all kinds of evidence!”

“This thing of denying science … To deny what scientists or scientific evidence is showing is inappropriate, and as I said earlier, to me when I get wound up, it’s unpatriotic!”

What we may be observing here is a robust functional redundancy of his vital organs and the ability of the damaged organism to pass control of certain reflexes on the surviving tissues.

To put it simply, a brain-dead Bill Nye can still go on Rachel Maddow and perform as expected.

      • RAH says:

So I see. The premise is that the alarmist response to skeptics is actually not a part of cognitive functions but actually a manifestation of a Autonomic nervous response, probably in the sympathetic system. That would explain many things, including stupid stuff like the article referenced.

    OMG
I’m so scared I think I’ll get a vasectomy and then kill myself

    • This prominent Austin urologist and surgeon comes highly recommended:

      Dr. Richard “Dick” Chopp

Motto: “There are more vasectomies to be done.”

    • RAH says:

As an SF medic in training I did a six week rotation for training at Ireland Army Hospital, Ft. Knox, KY. 18 hours a day, six days a week. During the day I would rotate through different clinics in the hospital. Second shift when the clinics were closed was spent in the ER.

One Tuesday my rotation called for me to spend the morning in Urology. I was put in that clinic on that particular day and time because that particular Tuesday of the month was Vasectomy day. All of the troops on post that had signed up for the procedure and gone through the mandatory counseling got their vasectomy that day.

I walked in about 07:00 and the Urologist had a guy on the table doing a cystoscopy on him. Now of course having a metal tube sheath (speculum) shoved down ones urethra is not exactly a pleasant experience and the kid was moaning “take it out” and “are you done yet?”. I was surprised when the doc told the kid “Shut up and hold still”. Then the doc looked over at me and said “come over here and let me take you on an anatomical tour of the bladder.” Which we proceeded to do for the next ten minutes with him positioning the scope and then having me look and explaining what I was looking at. All the time the kid was moaning. Then the Doc reversed the process and I took control of the scope and found each structure he had previously shown me which he would visually confirm and I would repeat back what he had taught me.

Once the examination was done and the patient left the Dr. explained to me the kid was a malingerer. He showed me the kids medical file and it was 3″ thick and the kid hadn’t been in the Army even a year yet. Nothing wrong had been found with the kid despite a whole plethora of all kinds of tests and thus his treatment by the Urologist and my opportunity to get extra training.

That morning after assisting in the first vasectomy I did the last six myself under the Urologists watchful eye.

      • What a great story. I wonder if the doctor’s initiative helped the kid to right himself or if he accidentally found a much stronger source of pleasure in pain and ended up in more specialized outfits than the Army.

I remember reading something about an SM club in Denver with all kinds of “departments” and tools for the members to use on each other. They have a rope shop, a chemistry lab, a cutlery store, an electrician’s shop and all kinds of other exciting sections but I don’t recall a urologist’s office. I’d think that playing doctor with the right tools would be very popular there.

        • And who could forget this office:

        • RAH says:

When I was on a team in Germany it was arranged for us to tour a “museum” that was normally used only for training the German state police (Bundespolizie) as a pay back for some training we had conducted for them. The place was divided into a room for each type of crime. A room for homicides another for counterfeiting another for terrorism which had the outfits the terrorists at the 1972 Munich Olympics were wearing when they died etc. The sexual deviants room was something to behold.

  3. AndyG55 says:

    quote from the WaPo article.

    “The oceans are getting warmer…..”

BULLSHIT !!!!! The main part of oceanic water Is getting COLDER.

  4. Now if you want a real poison it’s oxygen – and it killed almost all life on earth some 2.3billion years ago leaving just a few species of algae. We went from around 96% CO2 down to something like 0.04% by first CO2 desert in the carboniferous.

    • Yes, but it made water possible, and water moderated neutrons, and the uranium oxide at some 3% went critical right where biologists point to as the region where higher mammals developed. Oops… econazis think power sources are poisonous too. Ya can’t win…

  5. gator69 says:

That’s it! We need to ban all gases, and then life will be possible.

  6. John@EF says:

“Corals and shellfish evolved in the Cambrian Era with CO2 10-20X higher than today, and temperatures 15C higher than today. Obviously warm water is not a problem for sea life”

…. unless it is imposed at a rate that outstrips adaptability, at which point species die … which is the major point of concern for those in the science community. Of course it’s of no concern for flippant, unthinking Neanderthals.

    • RAH says:

Would that be the same “science community” told us the Arctic would be basically sea ice during the summers by now?

Would that be the same “science community” that told us the SW US was going into a “semi permanent drought” in 2012 that would be like the dust bowl?

Would that be the same “science community” that predicted that by now snows in the rocky mountains would be diminished to the point where the ski industry would be hurt?

Would that be the same “science community” that made over 60 excuses for the pause in warming including that the heat was somehow being sequestered in the deep oceans and then turned around last year and started claiming that there was actually no pause?

Would that be the same “science community” that claimed that Polar bears were threatened by AGW?

Would that be the same “science community” that in the 70’s declared it looked like we were heading for another ice age?

Would that be the same “science community” that predicted more violent tornadoes and hurricanes due to climate change?

Would that be the same “science community” that predicted that a sign of AGW would be a persistent hot spot in the upper troposphere above the tropics would be and indication of AGW and have yet, despite extensive efforts failed to find it?

Would that be the same “science community” that allows every single word in their reports through the IPPC to be vetted by politicians before it is released as one of their reports?

      etc, etc, etc…………….

      • RAH says:

Sorry first line should have read “sea ice free”.

      • gator69 says:

Yes RAH, that is the same scientology communistry ti which John referred. The same unscientific communistic trillion dollar industry that gave us such wonderful gems like these…

        John@EF

What is obvious is that a large number in your “science community” have made alarmism an industry and now have less credibility than the National Inquirer and that is why “climate change” is now at or near the bottom of the list of peoples concerns in nearly every poll despite the massive effort to keep them alarmed and afraid so as to motivate them to accept the economic and social changes that are desired by those funding such bilge. Now days such articles as the one cited here have less effect than the newspaper adds that quacks placed for miracle cures in the early 20th century and finding the real pearls of wisdom is much harder because so much pure junk is being published. But mostly I hate the serious damage it does and will do to real scientists working using the scientific method to do the real hard (as opposed to soft) science.

        • John@EF says:

Perhaps you should consider visiting the primary paleo-science lit concerning the five known geological mass extinction events … or perhaps just a friggin’ high school ecology text might help.

Heller’s graph and ridiculous comment don’t address the concern. Quote all of the straw dogs you want. The concern is for a long timescale disintegrating pathology. The potential breadth and magnitude of consequences over time justifies a commonsense risk management approach. Unfortunately by extension this translates into policy actions/agreements which in turn means wading into the global political cesspool.

        • gator69 says:

Perhaps you should consider visiting the primary paleo-science lit concerning the five known geological mass extinction events … or perhaps just a friggin’ high school ecology text might help.

My many years of geology studies, and my climatolgy courses, gave me all the background that I needed to call BS on CAGW, from day one. I lived through the global cooling scare, and learned a lesson as a climatiolgy student when desertification was all the rage. The sky is not falling CL.

The opposite of skeptical is gullible. On which side of the fence do you fall?

        • A man educated in paleo-science should know there is no evidence that Neanderthals were flippant and unthinking.

I think you made it up. Maybe it is a habit of yours when pressed on a subject or maybe you took the oxygen-depleted brain remark personally.

Either way, wading into the global political cesspool requires all your faculties intact so make a precautionary stop at the oxygen bar and organize your thoughts on the way back here.

        • If nothing else, John, concentrate and put some distance between yourself and this polymath:

        • AndyG55 says:

“justifies a commonsense risk management approach”

Which is exactly what increasing atmospheric CO2 is…… common sense.

Let’s not let plant life starve.. feed it, let it GROW.

Or are you pulling the “precautionary principle” out of your butt….

…. the “I’ve-got-no-evidence” end point of all AGW discussions.

        • RAH says:

Never mind that the whole thing starts with the statement “Global Warming could….” And cites that clown Mann who’s “science” is questionable at best. It tags it right off the bat as another one of the seeming never ending string of alarmist bilge. And it wasn’t scientists that were forced to get involved in the “global political cesspool” to address a life threatening problem. They instead were willingly coopted into that cesspool because they wanted the money and many of them are now, just like Mann and Hansen and so many more, a willing part of the contents of pool.

All based on the unproven hypothesis that mans activities can dangerously heat the planets atmosphere and oceans by producing CO2 levels when the preponderance of evidence is that natural variations in temperature are what drive CO2 levels. And the screams keep on despite the evidence that we just cannot effectively cool the temperatures no matter what we do!

    • gator69 says:

…unless it is imposed at a rate that outstrips adaptability, at which point species die…

Yes, and if my aunt had a d*ck she would be my uncle. But she doesn’t, so she isn’t. So why worry about it?

    • AndyG55 says:

“unless it is imposed at a rate that outstrips adaptability”

roflmao…. you mean they might get indigestion from having a decent feed for the first time in ages.

    • rebelronin says:

      John@EF
      how dare you Sir,
      that’s flippant, unthinking Pre-Sapien American
      we have feelings too
      you are a subspeciesist

    • Hey John@moron, warm water is imposed at a rate that outstrips adaptability? Is that what happens every spring when water in temperate zones rises by 20 or 30 degrees between March and July?

  7. Climatism says:

Reblogged this on Climatism and commented:
Are any of Gaia’s gases spared the wrath of climate change alarmist airheads?

Oxygen today, perhaps argon tomorrow? All because CO2 hasn’t done what they had so dearly wished it to do for nearly two decades….heat the atmosphere.

  8. There’s always water vapor. Water vapor is a lot like Sumner’s “The Forgotten Man.”

  9. RAH says:

I notice that this paper was addressed over at WUWT
    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/04/28/modeling-claim-widespread-loss-of-ocean-oxygen-to-become-noticeable-in-2030s/
And that the consensus over there is that the thing is junk. And since our Alarmists friends have insisted that consensus is a corner stone of the scientific method because when scientists, no matter what their discipline agree, then it must be fact. So I guess this paper must most certainly be junk and anyone that disputes that is a nasty ignorant “denier”.
