In order to understand the magnitude of the NSIDC disappearing ice scandal, you have to understand how the ice age is evaluated.
The ice age is determined by tracking individual ice flows from week to week. In the case of the disappearing five year old ice, they had been tracking it every week for five years – and then suddenly claimed that it never existed. It defies credibility.
The animation below shows the ice going backwards in time to 2012. It takes a lot of “special science” to disappear ice they have been tracking for more than 250 weeks.
Just one more massive climate fraud from the team.

If you look at the two “alternatives” for week 41, they have also “DISAPPEARED” a whole heap of 3 and 4 year old ice as well.
Yes Andy, it appears that there is a lot less total ice as well!

Perhaps if they “ADJUST” the Arctic sea ice down enough, they can get somewhere near the ZERO summer sea ice levels of the first 3/4 of the Holocene.
You better tell them that is what they should be aiming for.

The input ice motion data used for this data set is now derived from NSIDC-0116 Version 3 data.
Data only has one “version”, the rest is speculation, at best.

One of the problems is the way they measure ice from space with microwaves is if there is a pool of water no matter how thick on the ice, then it registers as water, not ice even it that 2mm of water is sitting on a half mile of ice.
This is mentioned in Judith C.’s recent essay on sea ice.
“The powers that be” hold the purse strings, which are also the strings that make scientists feel like puppets. Up to a point they are so grateful for funding they seek to please their masters, but things have pressed into the realm of absurdity, and I get the distinct feeling some scientists are tired of being made to look like they are brainless. They are actually very smart, and their ways of “getting even” are very subtle.
