‘Yet now we have the heir to the throne demanding — not in a throwaway remark, but in an entire book to which he has just put his name — that we should reject science and evidence in favour of following our instincts. This is surely disturbing.’

Divine power via a king or queen is an insane hold over from the Bronze Dark Ages of when humanity was superstitious. Oh wait, 90% still are… sigh… still it’s time everyone grew up in the universe.
As a living sentient being living in Canada I find the notion of the monarchy to be repugnant and anti-democratic.
One of my ancestors, Samuel Lount, said “Canada will yet be free [from the Monarchy]” just before they hanged him for his role in proclaiming The Republic Of Canada in 1837. 173 years later the Monarchy still has real influence in Canada.
