Hmm, maybe in GIStemp it looks different.
But then back in March Dr Reto Ruedy admitted GISS’s temperature data was worse than CRU’s. So NASA GISS has said by implication (at least) that HadCRUT should be believed over GIStemp.
I do think that qualifies as a hottest year ever own goal.
The grossly oversimplified science from Hansen et al is becoming harder to justify as the world stubbonly refuses to cooperate with the predictions. Read Ian Plimer on the geology, Lord Stockton on the bits that Al Gore got wrong and dont panic about the rising sea levels when it turns out the atolls in the Pacific are actually getting slightly bigger on average. The dry future for Australia looks damp right now. The sub Saharan arid regions are greening (and being bought be the Chinese who have noticed)I know those sweltering in Europe, the US and the UK right now want someone to lower the temperature for them but some have actually found it pleasantly cool this winter. It turns out that water was the main greenhouse gas after all and CO2 only released by the sea after the temperature warmed a little (ie a result rather than a cause). The ice in the North melts a little as the ice in the South increases partly in response to approach and movement away from the Sun. The CO2 levels may have risen since 1998 but the temperature did not go up hockey stick wise and the geological record cant find anything new in what is happening at present.
