There used to be this page on the Met Office web site:-
    http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/corporate/pressoffice/2009/pr20090914.html
It stated that half of the summers between 2010 and 2015 would be warmer than 2003 ( probably amongst the warmest UK summers)
Not surprisingly this page is no longer available. If only I had kept a copy.

IMO the Met Office should be made to watch this daily –

Poor Tom Heap – imagine being forced to go to Madeira to report on the horrors that “may” await the Uk in as little as 40 years ……….it’s a dirty job being a cutting edge BBC reporter 🙂

Earlier this year much of Southern England had a hosepipe ban imposed, as some of the reservoirs were nearly empty. Then the Met Office were forecasting the dry spell could last until the end of the year or beyond. Water companies were saying that it could take years for the water table to recover.
The following week the weather changed. Within two weeks many houses that were banned from using hosepipes due to the water shortage were flooded. In the following three months there was hardly a let up in the rainfall. By July the water tables has recovered.
A similar sequence happened in 2006 and 1976. Declaration of a drought, quickly followed by heavy rainfall. For us in Britain the Met Office declaring a drought are the modern form of a rain dance.
Before I went on holiday to Devon two weeks ago, I looked to at the weather forecast for the week ahead. Every day was rainfall between 10am and 3pm. Exactly the same. It was about right for Sunday (well two heavy showers between 11am and 2pm). Then wrong for every other day.
More seriously, it shows that the Met Office are usually wrong when extrapolating for both long-term trends and for the week-long forecasts.

The disturbingly large number of people who haunt the cifs of the world with their constant lunatic ramblings about man-made global warming producing drought and heat whilst simultaneously being responsible for the current wet and cold conditions, only convince me we are doomed as a species. There is no better proof of man’s stupidity than this. So I guess the apocalypse is nigh after all.

Aren’t these the same people who warned that soon UK children would not know what snow looked like? And what’s sad is I’ll bet these people are paid alot more money than any of us, even sadder.
