The Big Lie Becomes Official At NOAA

I’ve been warning for months that NOAA was going to claim that 2012 was the hottest year ever, regardless of the actual temperatures. They did it today.

The year 2012 was the warmest on record for the contiguous United States, beating the previous record by a full degree in temperature, a government climate agency said on Tuesday.  Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said the average temperature in 2012 in the contiguous United States was 55.3 degrees Fahrenheit (12.94 degrees Celsius), 3.2 degrees above the average recorded during the 20th century and 1.0 degree above 1998, until now the hottest on record.

I will do a more complete analysis later, but for now I want you to focus on the bold sentence above, which claims that 1998 used to be the hottest year in the US.

In an article which NASA published in 1999, Hansen showed that 1998 was only the fifth warmest year, after 1934, 1921, 1931 and 1953. In fact, 1998 was 0.6C cooler than 1934.

NASA GISS: Science Briefs: Whither U.S. Climate?

Over the past decade, NASA and NOAA have continuously altered the temperature record to cool the past and warm the present. Their claims are straight out of Orwell’s 1984, and have nothing to do with science.

“While 2012 was only the ninth warmest year globally, it was the warmest year on record for both the contiguous 48 U.S. states and for the continental U.S., including Alaska. For the U.S., 2012 started with one of the three warmest Januaries in the 34-year record, saw a record-setting March heat wave, and stayed warm enough for the rest of the year to set a record.

Compared to seasonal norms, March 2012 was the warmest month on record in the 48 contiguous U.S. states. Temperatures over the U.S. averaged 2.82 C (almost 5.1° Fahrenheit) warmer than normal in March; the warmest spot on the globe that month was in northern Iowa. The annual average temperature over the conterminous 48 states in 2012 was 0.555 C (about 0.99 degrees F) warmer than seasonal norms.”

That is of course, UAH, which only has 30 years of data, so that is not inconsistent with Steve’s position.

Hansen changes a cooling trend into a stable trend then to a warming trend, then gives it to the ministry of propaganda for dissemination to the sheeple. With all the worlds information at their fingertips, the sheeple never question anything from the ministry. That would take a bit of effort and some critical thinking. I am trying to envision some way out of our future enslavement, and premature death. Haven’t quite located the light at the end of the tunnel yet.

Aye well the Met Office is in full retreat and Steve even if NOAA was accurate [?] in their guess-timation – so effin what?

Man made global warming has died the death, it’s all bunkum and now we can say, “we told yer so”.

Eco warriors fighting the non-existent glow bull worming are vastly more delusional than the Nazi’s in 1933-45 and as hard to convince the error of their thinking. They will probably cause as much economic devastation before the larger percentage of people have realised AGW is bulldust. Keep calling them on their crap projections and showing them to be the frauds they are.

  4. Traitor In Chief says:

Had this been clearly the coldest year, or a lackluster year, the cult would be reminding everyone that the contiguous 48 are “only 2% of the earth’s surface”, and not significant. Soon they’ll be publicizing the year that is the “hottest ever in Akron, OH”, or something similar….

The US hottest in 2012, The US in 2012 also had record crops for Cotton and Soy.

US 1930s, dust bowl refugees fled the land and headed for cities and the soup kitchens.

They seem to not understand that the US has a very special grass that has been ploughed up , Prairie grass, it has the special ability to withstand droughts. it had to , the US had 100- 150 year droughts over the last 2000 years.

Remember the dems play book tell a lie long enough and it becomes the truth, it applies to weather budget racism and sexism.
