This is laughable…When I was a kid, we had a passive hot water tank in the kitchen, connected to our coal stove water jacket. Cold water went in one pipe and hot water came out the other, and it rose to the top of the tank. In the morning, we would always touch the top of the tank to see if we had hot water….There was no pump or anything, everyone knows : hot water rises : soooo, now to explain the :” missing heat ” …oh it defies the laws of physics and sinks to the bottom of the ocean…another desperate comment from a desperate movement. But I’d like to ask them how this “warming” decides which path to take. Is there some kind of “climate career counselor” that tells it which courses it needs to take in order to get its degree in Air Temperature Warming, or go for the lower course in Melting Ice And Snow.
Either way, if you decided to go for the PhD in Surface Warming, be warned it could take anywhere from 17 to 20 years before you see any progress.
I’m sure NBC news will clarify his remarks into an easy to understand & believable story.

There’s no correlation whatsoever between CO2 levels and global average temperatures. The only correlation that I can find is between the investments by tax-subsidising green energy systems and economic meltdown.
Trenberth needs to prove his assertions. This is because the only way he could be correct is if he has proof that the oceans are becoming saltier at constant temperature.
Interested people should review the UNESCO equation of state for water and the partial molar heat of mixing of the salts and water.
It is time to rescind the credentials of any warmists.
I’m going to keep saying this till somebody listens. You cannot pass physical heat through the surface of water because it will be blocked by surface tension. AGW is a physical nonsense.
How does the atmosphere heat the ocean? The ocean contains 4000 times more heat (energy) than the atmosphere.

That’s the first thing they teach you in grade school science – That warm water expands and rises , while cold water contracts and sinks, then you go to graduate school for Climate Scientists and learn how it was all just a big joke that the enlightened few have perpatrated on the rest of the world and it is really just the opposite……..at least that is what you are taught to say when they can’t find the missing heat that Trenberth’s silly models said should be there.
This is the sign that it will soon be over. But not for Trenberth who will be in his 80s and still looking for the missing heat. Sad really. 🙁

By Kevin Trenberth’s reasoning one could say that it has been warming since the dawn of man it’s just that the warmth maifests itself in different ways.
If the AGW warmth basically just resembles the same weather that we’ve always had how does that produce the wild eyed catastrophes the warmists are always blathering about.
Once this is all over, these guys can hire themselves out as spin doctors.
If we had some intelligent social scientists, it would be interesting to know something more about the way the stories are presently diverging and who now says what. Clearly, some people are still pushing the hottest-decade-on-record line and trying to ignore the present cooling, while others are re-positioning themselves.
Arguably, the most useful thing about science is that it can make predictions. Predicting that “… pauses in surface warming could last 15-20 years.” after 15-20 years of such pausing is not science.

I just want to remind everyone about what sort of scientist Trenberth is by reproducing a climategate email of his in which he accuses the real data measurements of being wrong rather than the models and the IPCC hypothesis about dangerous man-made global warming. Well I have my own article on where the heck is global warming? We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record. We had 4 inches of snow. The high the last 2 days was below 30F and the normal is 69F, and it smashed the previous records for these days by 10F. The low was about 18F and also a record low, well below the previous record low. This is January weather (see the Rockies baseball playoff game was canceled on saturday and then played last night in below freezing weather).

The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.
That said there is a LOT of nonsense about the PDO. People like CPC are tracking PDO on a monthly basis but it is highly correlated with ENSO. Most of what they are seeing is the change in ENSO not real PDO. It surely isn’t decadal. The PDO is already reversing with the switch to El Nino.
