Not A Single Honest Word From Or About The Rowing Team

The Northwest Passage shipping route from the North Atlantic to the North Pacific has a huge amount of ice in it, and almost no open water.

Yet all we hear about the rowing team, is that global warming has melted the ice and made their trip possible. Another 100% pure global warming fraud.

  1. Chewer, says:

It looks like they’ll be on the coast tomorrow morning.

    • Not a chance, they just arrived at Inuvik a couple minutes, the coast is a couple days row away.

      • Streetcred says:

Yeah, they should be able to walk that in a day.

      • Andy Oz says:

So Reggie. Are you the PR rep for Lamestream Renewable Power? The sponsors of the Rowing Team? How much are they paying for the Rowing trip to promote their over priced product? How much in taxpayer funds have mainstream received to date to stay in business? You realise Mainstream renewable power will get more press coverage if the rowers have a disaster than if they make it safely? Is that planned for?

  2. correction: a couple minutes ago

    • Chewer, says:

They’re not taking the ferry over the Mackenzie or Peel?

      • Sean Peake says:

The Mackenzie is a dreary paddle. So silty you can’t take a drink from it, no place to put to shore because the mud flats are broad and you sink to you knees (or beyond) and if sunny, an oven

  3. Andy Oz says:

Take their GPS, satellite imaging and telecommunications off them and see if they do better than Amundsen taking 3 years. They should keep their shotguns cos they’re gonna need them. They should remember ” don’t poke the bear”.

  4. I think they can do it. (If they put their boat on a sled and buy a team of dogs.)

  5. Traitor In Chief says:

I think somewhere in my travels (and I’m too lazy to find it now) I read that “The Team” indicated that “Passage” described every form of travel. Perhaps this means they will drink their funky Toe drinks, then, the following morning, take some pics of themselves sitting in a little puddle of water, drag the canoe a few hundred feet, and then FLY to their destination for the Victory celebration. Excelsior!

  6. Jorge says:

Reggie reminds me of the Will Ferrell character in LAND OF THE LOST. “Do you ever get tired of being wrong?” Dr. Rick Marshall (Ferrell): Yes, yes I do.

    • What have I been wrong about so far?
Nobody here has actually used science to challenge anything I have said.
It’s all faith based dissent, you believe I am wrong, therefore I am wrong. Real skeptics would use facts not belief!

      • If you continue to try to change the subject you will be spam.

The topic of this post is quite clear and has nothing to do with minute details about the ice.

      • Jorge says:

Faith based? LOL. I thought you were the true believer?

      • Jorge says:

Reggie, in all your posts you haven’t ever presented anything worth refuting. What facts have you ever provided? I can’t think of anything you have written that was evidence for anything. You repeatedly give your opinion that you think these guys will succeed and you ignore all the evidence to the contrary that might block their travels. Anyone can convince themself that they’re always right, when they just ignore information which proves them wrong.

The only person here engaged in “faith based” belief is you, son. You believe the ice in the artic is melting and will melt to the point where a couple of idiots can canoe to the north pole or wherever they’re canoeing to. The evidence shows an abundance of ice there now though. The evidence shows this winter/spring/summer have had lower than usual temperatures in the artic, sometimes by several degrees ON AVERAGE. The evidence shows that the ice melt will be no where near what it has been these past few years. But you hold out hope that these facts are wrong and your heroes will make it through to great propaganda and infamy.

But your opinion is based on hope alone, or faith shall we say. Then you project those feelings on to the people who provide you with real facts which contradict your belief. The area is covered in ice, but you pretend the ice isn’t there or that it’s insignificant.

In all honesty, i’m not sure what you are hoping to prove here.

      • You are such a flaming liar

The route they are taking is not the “Northwest Passage” They are skipping the entire Beaufort Sea which has above normal ice area. The Canadian Archipelago and Baffin Bay both have normal amounts of ice.

No place in the Northwest passage has below normal ice.

      • Traitor In Chief says:

Not to mention that they can’t ROW anywhere. Well, maybe they can find a patch of open water, row across, then scramble back up on the ice and call for the Helicopter.
They will want to respect the environment and the animals: So If they bring a Cheesecake with them, the Polar Bears will have something for dessert.

      • Chewer, says:

I’m just wondering who will rescue them, when needed.
Do they, like you believe this inter-glacial is of the never-ending type?
Remember August 9th Reggie, it is the drop dead date/end of the journey!!!

  7. slimething says:

How many satellites did GPS use during Admundson’s journey? Radar? Satellite photos?

    • Jorge says:

Exactly. But don’t confuse Reggie with facts, he’ll think dismiss them as “faith based.”

  8. Latimer Alder says:

For Sale: Canoes & oars – never used. Will swap for sledge and huskies. Apply – NW Passage expedition,.

  9. Traitor In Chief says:

Apparently, there is another, more serious expedition underway in the Arctic this year. The NPIE (North Pole Inner Earth) expedition. They plan to take Gandolf hostage, and return with him.

  10. Steve, that graph does not show ice levels above the 1980-2010 period.

  11. Lee says:

Both sides of the arguments set forth in this particular set of comments are forgetting the basic tenet of global warming science:

BASIC TENET OF GLOBAL WARMING SCIENCE: “IT IS APPROPRIATE TO HAVE AN OVER-REPRESENTATION OF FACTUAL PRESENTATIONS (LIE ABOUT) HOW DANGEROUS (GLOBAL WARMING) IS.”

    Also of interest:

What happens when you tell people you are going to row across the north pole (or whatever these people are claiming)? Perhaps Eric Schmidt has the answer.

THAT WORKS BOTH WAYS: Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt: “The thirst for information is ultimately the solution to the problems we talk about here,” he said. “You can hold back knowledge; you cannot prevent it from spreading. You can lie about the effects of climate change, but eventually you’ll be seen as a liar.”

  12. Lee says:

History of Northwest Passage – Navigated in 1905 and multiple times in 1940s (Note: 80% of man-made CO2 came after 1940)

  13. Richard Lynch says:

This thread is about the rowing team, but they haven’t yet started to row. Their plan was to row from Inuvik starting July 1, but they only got there eight hours ago. The plan, I take it, is to row down the MacKenzie river and then traverse the arctic basin. We haven’t had any communication from them since they got to Inuvik that I am aware of. We won’t know what happens when they hit the ice for a couple of days yet.

    • Yes, that is what they show as their planned route, the southernmost channels of the NWP. These are also the longest so they are going to face an interesting dilemma. Starting late is going to allow them to follow the melting ice into the CAA, but sets them up for a real race at the end in mid-September, if the weather stays cold this summer as it has been. In that case there is a real possibility of their goal icing over before they arrive.

One way for them to make up time would be to shift their route to one of the shorter, more northerly channels, but those are probably going to be icier, for longer.

  14. I know what will happen when they hit the ice.

They won’t be able to row any further.
