If you like your Medieval Warm Period, you can keep your Medieval Warm Period

In the 1990 IPCC report, the Medieval Warm Period was much warmer than the late 20th century.

But in the 2001 IPCC report, the Medieval Warm period disappeared and became much cooler than the late 20th century.

HockeyStick

By pure coincidence, in the year 1995 the IPCC made a decision to make the Medieval Warm Period disappear.

All the adjustments and changes are only ever in one direction …. who’d a thunk it??

  2. Jason Calley says:

The Norse who settled Greenland were too primitive to realize how cold it was. Their word for “cattle” was the same as their word for “polar bear”. Their word for “barley” was the same as their word for “lichen”. No wonder the myth of the Medieval Warm Period has been so difficult to erase.

  3. Andy DC says:

No better way to put alarmist anti-science propaganda into prospective.

  4. Obviously, the older the thermometer reading, the more biased it is in the warm direction. Hence, their readings had to be corrected downward. Who would have thought that the age of the thermometer reading was important to measuring global warming? It was an amazing discovery. Without that discovery, there would be no cause for alarm in our current climate era.

Either that or the IPCC had a non-scientific motive for cooking the data. Perhaps they were simply delivering what they were paid to deliver and actual science had nothing to do with it.

  5. DCM says:

The medieval warm period was due to a concerted racist patriarchal effort to oppress women while making tropical Africa and Asia uninhabitable.

  6. darrylb says:

There has been a tremendous amount of speculation as to who the ‘we have to get rid of the medieval warm period’ person was. The name suggested most often was (I believe) Michael Oppenheimer. Regardless, it was another black mark on the objectivity of climate science.
(So, how many readers saw it in the mainstream media?????) I will not hold my breath.

BTW, there were many temperature calculations done of the MWP long before Michael Mann.
    All were by proxy determination.

But 97% of climate gurus say that the medieval period was like too long ago….or something…

  10. X says:

Everybody knows that the MWP was warmer than today,
A new review paper from SPPI and CO2 Science concludes “that earth’s current level of warmth need not be attributed to the current high level of the air’s CO2 content; for the peak warmth of the global Medieval Warm Period was even greater than it has been over the past couple of decades, and at a time when the air’s CO2 concentration was approximately 100 ppm less than it is today, which suggests that whatever phenomenon was responsible for the warmth of the Medieval Warm Period could also be responsible for the [current warm period].”

1,000 years ago we were still well “inside” the Holocene, now we’re almost at the end of it. Temperatures have been decreasing steadily in the last 2,000 years or more,

If Catastrophic Climate Change was really happening it would not be necessary to lie so much to make people buy into it.
