These Greenpeace activists are protesting the Four Corners Power Plant in New Mexico, and fail to notice that it isn’t dirty.
At one time (45 years ago) it was dirty, and I was one of the people fighting to get them to clean the plant up. They installed electrostatic precipitators, and now the plant delivers huge amounts of electricity to several states – with minimal pollution.

Have the greens figured out how to prevent the toxins in the tailings from lithium and rare earth element mining from getting into the groundwater, or are they just morons?

I calculated that if we had to rely on wind mills and solar panels (that would die never to be replaced) we would be back to the level of civilization in the 1700’s if lucky. Remember no coal and no water power means no 1800 technology that relied on it. (The idiots want to remove dams and are doing so)
How in heck do you smelt metal when all the wood has been burned for heat? We would be back to using hand crafted pins and nails as money.
They believe the world is vastly overpopulated and that excess population is the root of all the world’s problems. Going back to a simpler, more primitive existence would reduce the excess population. If you’ve never been involved in producing your own food, making your own tools or being actively involved in scrabbling for your very existence it is easy to want to go back to that idyllic lifestyle. Besides we will need elites to guide us in this brave new world. Who else but them?

I have noticed many times Greens deliberately conflating the particulate pollution that comes from burning coal, with CO2 which is colourless and odourless. For example, they will point to the problems China is having and pretend this is a CO2 related issue (mind you, China also has cheap electricity and could EASILY afford to install particular filters if they wanted to).
Just like the way they deliberately conflate steam with smoke in photographs by trying to catch the sun behind it.
But it they close the power plant all that great bass fishing in the effluent pond will go away.
Also, not the huge number of participants.
The irony now is if there’s a lot of wind energy in an area, and the coal fired power station has to load level, the electrostatic precips probably won’t work as well. You want the gas rate through them nice and steady to get maximum performance, otherwise you’ll tend to get puffs of particulates out your stack.
So green energy makes coal plants dirtier. If they turned of the wind turbines the perfomance would most likely improve.

Second thought—Have you ever noticed that pictures are taken of emissions from coal plants, of which the only thing visible is water vapor condensed into clouds. The pictures are back lit by sunlight to make the water appear very dark.
