Unhappy Feet: Global Warming Threatens Penguins : Discovery News

The guy with the dunce cap believes that since the Antarctic winter started, with temperatures at -50C, enough ice melted in the interior of Antarctica to create 14 million km^2 of new sea ice extending 1,000 miles from the coast.

It has taken many years of work from the team to create people this stupid.

Update : Chris Crawford responds, explaining that the massive growth of ice this winter at -50C is due to very rapid melting.

  1. Unfortunately he must be one of the Al Gore’s Brain washed victims.

You are what you watch on TV.

  2. philjourdan says:

Nah! People that stupid are all around every day. It just took Alarmism to make them think they are smart.

    • Jason Calley says:

I think you are right. One of the major appeals of CAGW is that it allows people with low scientific skills and knowledge to feel like they have a deep understanding of real science. When you refute their supposed facts, you are refuting their new found sense of scientific competence. That is one reason why they get angry instead of simply disagreeing.

      • stewart pid says:

Exactly Jason … when folks really get me wound up with their Chris Crawford like lack of knowledge I point out to them that they were too thick to take, much less pass high school physics, calculus and chemistry. That shuts up a lot of the charting class that gets their science from the goracle or the Guardian etc. since it hits them where it hurts.

  3. Gail Combs says:

Sometimes I can’t wait for the next Ice age to arrive and pile a mile of Ice on Detroit, NYC and Chicago, thereby thinning the ranks of the Warmists

  4. Dave N says:

A friend of mine on Facebook had some idiot make this comment on his post about the increase in Antarctic sea-ice:

“big difference between southern sea ice and arctic land ice”.

Perhaps not quite as stupid as Chris Crawford, but close.. and some alarmists say that fellow “d*niers” are discrediting each other? Alarmists take things to new levels of stupid.

  5. _Jim says:

” It has taken many years of work from the team to create people this stupid. ”

Someone has to take on that ‘brave’ role of holding down the low end of the IQ Bell-shaped curve. The real danger are those at two and more SDs over towards the low end curve who are registered to vote democrat time and time again for candidates residing in the first SD who are the psychopaths who run for elected office of both parties …

    .

  6. Fred from Canuckistan. says:

Chris is to stupid what is hat is to big.

Maybe it is just the result of inbreeding, or doing too many drugs or believing NOAA is an honest government agency.

Whatever, his mother must be so proud he can post some internet drivel despite his mental conditions.

  7. Okie says:

A true buffoon. I am waiting for someone to claim the ozone hole is allowing heat to escape in Antarctica. It will probably be Nancy Pelosi.

  8. Paul in Sweden says:

    – THIS COMMENT IS INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK –
(as there is pretty much nothing more to add) -GAH- #@!§¤&%!! ROTFLMAO

  9. gofer says:

He is now claiming you blocked his post.

    • He is lying.

      • gofer says:

Of course. He posted this about 40 min. ago.

        Chris Crawford
Now this is interesting: I went to Steve Goddard’s blog and posted a reply. Apparently Mr. Goddard can’t cope with being demolished by evidence, because he blocked my post. That’s par for the course for deniers: don’t let people rebut your lies.”

        • Latitude says:

Tell him to look on the bright side…..when all that ice slides off the land….the land will rise up….and that will solve the sea level rising problem

        • _Jim says:

“It’s a conspiracy.” Go ahead … say it. Someone is bound to say it, and others have got to be just dying to say it, so let’s get it out of the way early …

(Can’t be because WordPress throws a monkey-wrench in the works once in awhile.)

          .

      • Dave N says:

On the odd occasion, I’ve attempted to post a comment to one of your articles, and WordPress has responded with “your comment could not be posted” or something like that. I wasn’t sure whether I’d used a “wrong word”, or WordPress was having a bad day, or what had happened.

I am curious as to what Crawford was going to reply with, considering his response to Sam Felton is completely indefensible.

If someone *is* blocked, what does WordPress respond with?

        • _Jim says:

One wonders at this point where the ‘ban’ screen is on the WordPress Dashboard that WordPress author’s have access to? I’m not even aware of where that would be … deleting comments or not approving comments, that procedure is rather straight forward …

        • Dave N says:

“One wonders at this point where the ‘ban’ screen is on the WordPress Dashboard that WordPress author’s have access to?”

There’s a blacklist option in Settings->Discussion, but it’s very basic. I have Akismet, which is supposed to automatically filter out spam, but lately it has been falling down on the job. Might be time for the pro version (if there is one).

      • Katabasis says:

        Demand a screenshot.

I doubt this one has the photoshop skills to mock a fake one up….

    • Chris Crawford, I beseech you, post more ice science.

    • _Jim says:

Hmmm … apportioning blame away from a probable WordPress ‘posting denial’; tell him to log back into his WordPress account.

(A few of us have seen those in the past, some more than once. It does not mean a ‘ban’ was enacted. Logging back into WordPress was the solution to the problem each time.)

  10. Abbey says:

His theory sounds almost as reasonable as the hockey stick.

And The Sierra Club this year saying that the Arctic sea ice would all melt within 5 months.

And SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D. MICH.) A MEMBER OF THE SENATE ENERGY COMMITTEE SAYING: “Global warming creates volatility. I FEEL IT WHEN I’M FLYING. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes”.

And U.S. Sen. Harry Reid saying “The West is burning…We have climate change. It’s here. You can’t deny it. Why do you think we are having all these fires?”

And Al Gore saying: “Extreme weather events…are now a HUNDRED TIMES MORE COMMON than 30 years ago….” and ‘Fertility management’ is needed to reduce the number of Africans to help ‘control the proliferation of unusual weather’.

And John Holdren saying that this winter’s extreme cold weather was caused by Global Warming. I think he forgot that in 2009 he said global warming was going to cause ice-free winters. (His climate science batting average of .000 approaches Steve’s soccer prognostications batting average).

And, in 1993, Al Gore saying: “BECAUSE OF THE RISING SEA LEVEL, DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING, IN THE NEXT FEW DECADES … UP TO 60 PERCENT OF THE PRESENT POPULATION OF FLORIDA MAY HAVE TO BE RELOCATED.” (Since I have not been to Florida since 2012, I cannot be absolutely positive that Al wasn’t spot-on with this one.)

And in 2009, Al Gore saying: “THEY (Climate Scientists) ARE SEEING THE COMPLETE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE POLAR ICE CAPS RIGHT BEFORE THEIR EYES IN JUST A FEW YEARS.” That’s BOTH polar ice caps, kind of stuck your neck out on that one, big Al.

    And….
    And….
    And…..

Steve, I hate to tell you this, but the guy you are picking on is the only guy in this group who is probably not getting your tax dollars for his opinions.

  11. emsnews says:

The saddest thing is, no one dares go to Antarctica to look around after the Ship of Fools got stuck in the ice. 🙂

  12. G. Horner says:

I’ve not encountered a person as “uneducated” as Chris Crawford, well… ever!

  13. D. Self says:

Give Chris a break he is only 11 years old, listens to the State Run Media, and attends public schools.

  14. Justa Joe says:

OT: The most”EXTREME” storm, how did it ever occur with the low CO2 of 1913 and the lack of all of those X number of Hiroshima bombs worth of “excess energy?” All the weather was supposed to be peachy keen back then.

    Great Lakes Storm of 1913
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Lakes_Storm_of_1913

“The deadliest and most destructive natural disaster ever to hit the lakes,[1] the Great Lakes Storm killed more than 250 people, destroyed 19 ships, and stranded 19 other ships.”

  15. Brad Rollans says:

Oh Chris Crawford, thanks for the belly laugh before I’m off to bed. It’s late but keep trying to post here. I need more comedic relief in the morning. Tony will get around to it.

  16. Andy says:

Where did Chris Crawford post this ?

    It is rather dumb.

    Andy

  17. ntesdorf says:

“big difference between southern sea ice and arctic land ice”…..wonderfully unintelligent comment. Perhaps he was standing on his head at the time. Someone should send him an illustrated geology atlas.

  18. Stephen Richards says:

And SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D. MICH.) A MEMBER OF THE SENATE ENERGY COMMITTEE SAYING: “Global warming creates volatility. I FEEL IT WHEN I’M FLYING. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes

This is their latest psalm. CO² produces a volatile climate. So you can get cold, warm, wet, dry and evry other combinasion. I heard it for the first time yesterday on CNBC. Joe Kernan took the P out of the guy but he didn’t see it.

  19. I think the argument is that if sea ice is decreasing it’s because it’s getting warming, but if sea ice is increasing it’s because it’s getting warmer.

  20. Morgan says:

I got into a thing with Chris Crawford one and he’s an idiot. Not worth your time. I mean, a real class clown, this guy is dumber than a giant box of really dumb rocks.

  21. A C Osborn says:

What I find most annoying is that they blatantly LIE and no one calls them on it.
    When will it change?

    • Gail Combs says:

      NEVER

The MSM is on board with all the lies. Heck I believed most of the crap that was spewed and I should have known better. It was only after the internet gave a voice to those who were silenced that I began to see behind the curtain of lies and propaganda put out.

  22. Chip Bennett says:

Antarctic land ice melting, and sliding into the sea. Really? That must be one heck of a ride! If the room is a-rockin’, don’t bother knockin’, baby.

I assume this fool is referring to Antarctic ice sheets in West Antarctica – you know, where they extend out into the ocean? Shame; I’d love to go take a ride on the Antarctic land ice sheet toboggan.

I wonder if this guy is related to Hank Johnson?

  23. Jimmy Haigh. says:

Surely Chris Crawford was being sarcastic? Surely?

  24. mwils51 says:

You can see more of Chris Crawford’s ridiculous posts here:
    http://www.livescience.com/46595-global-warming-threatens-emperor-penguins.html
He is now accusing me of being a paid oil shill because he is loosing the argument with me so bad that is all he can come up with is personal attacks!

  25. MrX says:

Holy crap! Does that guy think that ice is made of a special kind of water and that ocean water can’t freeze? So if you want more sea ice, you gotta melt land ice so that it can re-freeze once it’s in the ocean? He thinks ice works like oil. It doesn’t mix with water if it melts.

  26. I’ve encountered this Crawford fellow before and he is entirely unassailable when it comes to reasoned discussion. The closest analogue I’ve ever had in “real”, face-to-face life is with the rabid evangelicals who gather round the entrances of large festivals (music pride, etc). They talk but they talk AT you. They don’t really even see you, thiugh you meet eyes with them.
It’s unsettling and sad. There’s the semblance of a mind, but behind the facade is something more like a tape loop.
