Tampering With Climate Data Is Not A New Problem

In 1907, the US Weather Bureau discussed tampering with meteorological data.

They described it as a crime, and said that it was up to the “independent press” (i.e. bloggers) to repress all “cheats and hoaxes” and  “defend the truth and the best interests of the whole nation as against the self-interest of a few”

    Well, in the past hundred years, we’ve made progress in lots of areas but have regressed in a few.

    The sad part is that it appears to me that in our current day lying and cheating can be excused by noble causes (e.g. reasons of morality, social justice, “the end justifies the means”, etc.). This has to end.

    My university (Royal Military College of Canada) taught the following core values: honesty, loyalty, integrity, honour, and courage. As professional engineer I follow a code of ethics and conduct:

    – fairness and loyalty to the practitioner’s associates, employers, clients, subordinates and employees;
    – fidelity to public needs;
    – devotion to high ideals of personal honour and professional integrity;
    – knowledge of developments in the area of professional engineering relevant to any services that are undertaken; and
    – competence in the performance of any professional engineering services that are undertaken. http://peo.on.ca/index.php?ci_id=1815&la_id=1

    I call upon honest climate scientists with integrity to have the courage to speak out. I realize this has happened and one like Judy Curry are outcast. But if enough of you do it, we can turn this ship around.

    Thanks for listening.

    Fantastic find, how do you do it?

  3. Baa Humbug says:

    Great find. Well done yet again

      I love the end of that Breitbart piece…

      Our answer: yes we bloody well are.

      What are the chances that all the datasets are being processed with the same algorithms? Because, aren’t they all being ‘mashed up’ to form one ‘global’ dataset?

  4. John Catley says:

    Where does manipulation end and criminality begin?
    I hope all this will be remembered and acted upon so that these criminals receive what they really deserve.

  5. Eliza says:

    Wow you should nail this (as an EDICT) against the door of the CHURCH OF GLOBAL WARMING LOL

  6. philjourdan says:

    What a difference a century makes. now it is not a crime, it is required.

  7. Andy DC says:

    As a young person, I loved to look at weather records. I considered them something sarcred, almost like the Bible, something wonderful and awe inspiring. Now weather records are largely BS, you never know what is real and what is propaganda. It is truly disheartening.

    Reblogged this on Centinel2012 and commented:
    But it’s OK if NOAA does it!

  9. Hugh K says:

    We were so much older then, we’re younger than that now.

    Great find, Tony!

    Lying is one of the first sins. It is one of the two main “gateway sins,” along with idolatry. (Gateway sins are sins which enable many other sins: if you’re not willing to lie, and if you’re not willing to put anything or anyone ahead of God and His law [idolotry], there are not many sins you can get away with.)

    That article you found was written a half-century after Democrats on the SCOTUS lied about the Constitution in Dred Scott, helping to plunge America into an unbelievably bloody civil war. It was about two-third of a century before Democrats on the SCOTUS lied about the Constitution to enable the slaughter of 50 million innocent American babies, so far. And it was about 92 years before Democrat Michael Mann spliced measured climate data onto a graph of “reconstructed” climate data, to “hide the decline” in the proxy-derived temperatures (the decline which embarrassingly proved the unreliability of his proxy derivations).
