I don’t miss them! Had a weak one pass within a mile of my house earlier this year. Did a little damage at the Hoosier Park horse track and casino. I was on the road and a friend asked me if my house was ok? Had no idea what had happened. I was on the phone with my wife when she was coming home from work and found no damage. It sucks to be on the road during times like that, not knowing if you house is still standing.

When we get tornadoes around here it seems that most of the time they’re rain wrapped.

We had a tornado come though town a few years ago. Hubby was on his way back from a gig and I had just gotten home. I called him and suggested he pull of and eat and waith for the gully washer to pass. He struck up a conversation with a state trooper who told him a tornado was going through our town. He tried to call me back but got nothing because the tornado took out the nearest cell tower and the phone and electric lines.

We were OK but the farm down the street lost their barn, arena, house roof and some really high priced horseflesh. Completely destroyed their breeding program.

Not that I am upset about their scarcity. But then I am not scaremongering either.

  3. This is because that all the tornado energy is now in the bottom of the ocean. Once it’s released…….watch out!

  4. UKjohn says:

Why can’t anyone think of the children. At this rate they will not know what tornadoes are. Yet another tragedy caused by Global Warming.

    • mjc says:

Yeah, and there will need to be a remake of “The Wizard of Oz” made to replace the tornado with a rising ocean or something.

  5. There’s an extreme lack of extreme weather. This is caused, of course, by global warming.

    • mjc says:

And here I thought it was caused by a lack of understanding just what ‘extreme’ means…so we need more funding to clarify the definition of ‘extreme’.

    • Gail Combs says:

Actually you are correct. There is less of a temperature differential between the poles and the equator so the heat engine is not producing such violent weather.

it is when the earth cools that we are in trouble.

      Hush!

      Don’t give them ideas!

  6. Andy DC says:

The weather setup seems favorable for severe weather over much of the US during the next couple days. So I hope that we won’t reverse that trend.

  7. MJB says:

Does anyone know what the baseline years are for the percentiles? The minimum on the 2014 chart is 944, yet 2013 was 943, would that not be the new minimum for the 2014 range?
