Rewriting Antarctica’s Past

Ten years ago, Gavin reported that Antarctica was cooling had “cooled significantly.”

While most of the Earth warmed rapidly during recent decades, surface temperatures decreased significantly over most of Antarctica.

That didn’t fit the needs of the White House, so Eric Steig simply rewrote Antarctica’s history in 2009, and turned “significant cooling” into “warming.

Our lastest WAIS Divide ice core paper, Precise interpolar phasing of abrupt climate change during the last ice age, just accepted by Nature.

    Whose SUV caused that?

It appears that the largest trends reported in the first set of maps is two tenths of a degree, and the majority of the area depicted was much less than that.
Considering the incredibly cold temperatures of these regions, it seems questionable just how “significant” this amount of change is.
I was also noticing that this first article was from back when these guys were still using satellite data in their reports, although from the quoted text, it seems that even then they were adjusting the raw data.
None of that stinking satellite data for them nowadays, huh?
Although I suppose it is possible that there was a day when they were making honest efforts to portray what was actually occurring, rather than thinking up ways to adjust all trends to show ever more warming than was actually measured.

” skin-depth temperatures derived from the thermal IR channel of historical AVHRR data.

Please note, these are preliminary findings and there are errors associated with these trends. Scientists are currently working on ways of minimizing these errors to more precisely determine these trends.”

A more accurate reading of that last quote …

“Propagandists are working on ways of more effectively torturing the data until it confesses the pre-determined conclusions”

They have yet to make a credible explanation on why there is a large increase of Sea Ice growth.

It would suggest that the water is getting cooler.

it is not hard to create your own climate in a place where there is no human habitation.
