October-March Snow Cover At Record High Levels

Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past – Environment – The Independent

Fifteen years ago, climate experts said that snow is a thing of the past. Since then, Northern Hemisphere snow cover has soared to record levels.

What this tells us is that cold air is intruding further south during the snow season. It also tells us that Tom Karl at NOAA is lying about global temperatures.

Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies, Ice and Snow Cover.
The average surface temperature difference in the North Atlantic AMO cycle is about 0.5 degrees C. Is it enough?
It is remarkable that the trend of temperatures in the North Atlantic so quickly turned away.

The fact that you refer to “normal” in climate or weather tells us that you have zero understanding of either.

When will you work to help the starving millions by confronting alarmists, and assist in diverting money to where it is desperately needed right now?

      • omanuel says:

gator69, good to see you back. We missed you, and Gail, too.

      • Jim Hunt says:

Gator – Tony directs me to the Rutgers Global Snow Lab, who are presumably some sort of authority in these matters? It’s their title on that map, not mine.

If I follow the link above then click on “Rankings” they assure me that for the Northern Hemisphere May 2015 ranks 44th lowest out of the 49 years since their records began. That doesn’t sound much like a “record high level” to me.

Perhaps that’s why you’ve changed the subject yet again?

        • gator69 says:

I have not changed the subject. I am pointing out the fact that you only attack Tony, and not alarmists, and that you are supporting a regime that takes food from the mouths of the starving. You are scum.

Add to your comment how the Green Wienies love puttin food into gas tanks.

Gator – Snow White asks if you’d mind blowing Tony a kiss on her behalf?

Here’s what she found flapping around in the cold wind blowing across the floor of the Rutgers Global Snow Lab:

At the risk of repeating myself: “Look at the data, not the headlines”

        • gator69 says:

At the risk of repeating myself, you are not here to correct the record Jim, you are here to support a regime that is responsible for denying aid to the starving masses. If you were about truth, you would confront alarmists like Gore when they make ridiculous claims of catastrophe on the world stage. You are the worst kind of denier Jim, you are scum.

    • Billy Liar says:

Alaska was warm and ice-free during the last glaciation (Wisconsinan) – what does that tell you?

    • jl says:

Other than Alaska being warm for May, nothing.

      • Elaine Supkis says:

Yes, during ALL the ice ages Siberia and Alaska DID NOT GET COVERED BY GLACIERS.

In Siberia, it teemed with horses, huge hair elephants, hairy rhinos, hairy wolves and hairy humans chasing them.

NONE OF THESE lived on the gigantic ice sheet covering 90% of Canada and the Northeast/Great Lakes/Northern Plains of North America.

    • catweazle666 says:

      “What does that tell us?”

That you are a low-information troll that hasn’t a clue what it’s wittering about?

    • We’d be glad to answer your Question Jim…

But first address why Rutgers shows Snow Cover at its highest point in 35 years.. going back to 1970… is it all the Heat keeping the snow alive Longer?? Certainly 2015 as the “Hottest Year Ever” could not possibly contain a record snow cover could it??

      • Jim Hunt says:

Phillippe – Can you read, or click a link?

Rutgers currently shows Alaska snow cover at the LOWEST point ever since their records began, whilst they have northern hemisphere snow cover at 44th LOWEST out of 49.

        • AndyG55 says:

          SO WHAT !!

It refers to a very tiny period of time, coming out of the coldest period in the last 10,000 years.

Do you want us all to freeze again, Jimbo, ?.. If so, you really are a low-life, as well as a cowardly worm for refusing to admit the basic fact that we are still at a very cool period relative to the rest of then Holocene.

    • Jim, its great that you’re skeptical of all these Blogger Charts and claims….

But what about Charles Onians prediction back in March 2000?? That’s what this Piece here is all about… Seems claiming “Snowfalls are Thing of the Past” with the 97% Consensus behind him is quite a claim… very Alarming and struck FEAR in Readers back in 2000…

Since then the UK has had some record cold winters… and plenty of Snowfall. In retrospect 15 years later.. Onians claim at the time… seems quite preposterous is it not??

Have you contacted Mr Onians or done an expose on your Website of Onians massively failed predictions and the false, alarmist FEAR he inspired in people?? I’d like to see that, what are you doing to address Onians Jim??

      • catweazle666 says:

The consequences of the Met Office’s advice to the Government concerning the future lack of snow in the British Isles were considerably more far-reaching than a little derision for the climate scientists.

As a result of Government edicts that there would be few or no snowfalls in the future, and what few there would be would be no more than trivial, the local councils sold off their snow clearance equipment at scrap price, as there was no market for it, and sold the buildings that had housed it and the land where the salt had been stored for development. They further made redundant the staff that had the experience to use the equipment.

Subsequently, when the heavy snowfalls returned, the councils were without snow ploughs and gritters, and without the salt to treat the roads. This led to chaos on the roads, deaths, injuries and destruction of property. After a desperate replacement of snow clearance equipment, the councils found they had no skilled staff to operate the ploughs, leading to our local council writing off two units within the first hour of attempting to use them, and having to go cap in hand and re-employ the staff they had made redundant.

That is the type of chaos and harm to society that is inflicted if persons in authority are sufficiently misguided as to believe the prognostications of inexperienced, scientifically illiterate “idealists” of such as Jim Hunt.

Here’s underlined the difference between weather and climate, for those interested in that, of course: http://www.whatisclimate.com/c304-just-a-word.html.

During the last ice age, a large swath of Alaska was green.

The slow melt season in Greenland this year. What does that tell us?

  4. inMAGICn says:

“Isn’t “The Onians” a satire site?

  5. Andy DC says:

There are always going to be ups and downs with the jetstream. As a result, some places will be warm and others cold. That is the way weather has always worked in the past and you can safely presume it will do so in the future.
